Post news Report RSS Cancellation

After many years, we're shutting down the project and starting a new one.

Posted by on

You may have noticed the lack of updates as of late - both here and on our site. I'm sad to announce that we've cancelled work on the project.

I could write a book of reasons why - one of our two programmers bailed and while attempting to regain control of the project we realized that our hearts frankly weren't in it anymore. The project had become dull an unexciting - working within the confines of an established franchise looses its novelty very quickly. The series itself is just getting rather old if we're being honest, and instead of spending another year or two stumbling through development we decided that enough was enough.

At this time, myself and another artist from the team are working on a new project - one we've created entirely by ourselves. We realize that without 'Halo' slapped on the cover of our game we'll loose a good majority of interest, which is always disheartening, but it's be a relief not having to piggyback off of an existing game to get attention. When we're ready to show it off, we'll create a new project page here on IndieDB (after closing down this project, of course. We won't 'bait and switch' our projects.) The game is still a 2D, sidescrolling shooter/platformer and will run on a refined and reworked version of OWaW's engine. We will also be including some of our custom content from OWaW (eg - the Shredder weapon, ability to teleport, enemies derivative from our Thrashers, ect.) A development blog we just put up today can be found here.

Lastly, I'd just like to thank everyone who's stuck with us this long and kept this project going as long as it has. I sincerely apologize that this had to turn out the way it has.

Here's to the future! - Appo

Oh, we absolutely will. It's still rather early in development but once we have something to show in the way of screenshots/video we'll release an official project page here (hopefully within the next month.) We just don't wanna jump the gun is all.

Will you guys at least release the unfinished content of Olympus? It would be a nice thing that few developers take the time to do.

Considering the lack of updates and what will usually follow almost 50% of the time, this is unsurprising.

Still, it's good to see you guys aiming for something original now. Hope to see that IndieDB page soon!
