In the brand new horde mode, you take control of a ship on the human side. You start with the lightest ship available, but can spend money to upgrade ships or run to the central base (already captured) and build up turrets and platforms to defend against the incoming hordes of aliens.
In the full release this mode is available as a co-op. The high scores will track how far you survived before your base it finally destroyed.
