That launcher stick for throwing javelins is the most ancient long-range weapon system invented by man. The Aztecs had something like this, the javelin with obsidian tip called 'Tlacochtli' and the launcher stick 'Atlatl' (see Deadliest Warrior TV program on Spike channel, season 2, episode 4).
