It all started when i received a mail in my hotmail inbox. I read the from column and it was from "Todd Hollenshead". Normal people whouldn't know who this character is. unless your an ID Software fan.

Thats right, CEO of my favorite all time game developer emailed me, and not on a pleasant note. He was basically sending me a friendly letter letting me know that my efforts are better spent somewhere else. For he would have to shut down Quake Source if we ever released anything.

Now this is where normal people would crumble. When dealing with copyright and trademark infringment issues, normal people would be all "Sorry, ill stop". Nope. Not us. Not me.

This is what it means to be dedicated. So i wrote a professional letter back to Todd, saying "Sorry, with all do respect, weve already put alot of work into this, and want to release it. So, to avoid legal matters, inform us of what we need to do". I got an email back from him only 9 hours later. Thanking me for my concerned reply, and told me that he is truly powerless to tell me to do anything, as it doesn't work. However he was kind enough to inform us of some minor things we need to change. So we did.

Now to get to the skinny on what im trying to get at: Due to legal matters, the name has changed from "Quake Source" to "Edge-DM", the logo has changed, and we must change the name of the maps so their not their offical counterparts names.

Easy. The mod is still in full development cycle, and there will be a release soon enough. In fact were even more driven now because weve gotten the shadow of ID to dissapear. Essentially, its still the exact same thing, with a different name and logo. So do not fret my fellow fraggers, ther shall be some serious fragging fun happening real fraggin' soon.

Rather predictable

Remember kids - "Source" game remakes never prosper.
