Post news Report RSS Arx Fatalis UE4 Remastered Video [progress video]

Hello my fellow followers :D here is a beautiful video about my progress with the remastered of Arx Fatalis.

Posted by on

I worked making the dialogue for the Level 11 ( Human Kingdom village )

I need to make a working bank

You can talk with the NPC

you can try to kill the guards and they will kill you.

I need to work with the inventory using blue print.

Some textures got corrupted because.... ehm i don't know but i need more time to fix.

Very nice! It seems you already have some of the gameplay already implemented.

Unfortunately I will have to ask, are you aware of the legal implications of using the original game assets?

I'm asking because the game is still being sold and not in the public domain. I also know what other mods add to do, after the IP holders got wind of their mods.

Btw i'm not trying to stop you, i'm sure this is the last thing you wanted to think about but i'm just making sure, you are aware that you could potentially lose months or years of work.

Hope they don't mind but even if they do and you have to stop, at least you will have learned many things about game dev working on this and that is always a plus in my book.

Good luck and good work.

Thank you :D
I am not scared of legal implications, in Europe people who sell drugs don't even go to the jail.. so why i should get scared? they will put me in the jail? ;)

i will make a launcher and the make will only start if you have Arx Fatalis in your steam library ( i believe this will solve all the problems)

If The arkane studios will get angry they could easily call me and maybe i could work for them ;)

Its an ok project.
Just the fact that literally 99% of the visuals here are from the original game.

Yee its greatly setup and working really well... but this cannot go anywhere without rights.

I dont think the HD version even can go anywhere, even tho they released source code.

The fact that i might not play this anyhow is making this just a fun hobby personal project. :/

If you would throw everything away and start a complete new arx project... Like the doom arx.

You would actually move something.

You are clearly a great coder, dont waste your potential! You are better then this!

Thank you :D but i want to complete this project and release.
If arkane studios will block me we could talk and i could work for them ;)

It's never too late to release a full working arx fatalis in Unreal Engine 4.

I would definitly play it yes, but i am caring about you here... I would advise you to release a demo version first to see the general reaction first.

And you should talk to the ARX remaster team, i bet they have some insights too.

I would totally play UE4 arx because the normal version wont work on my PC.

Don't fall for the petty fearmongering. These people are controlled by fear. Do your stuff and ignore these petulant children. People will be mad when somebody touches your work, don't worry. Arcane Studios also have proven themselves to be quite positive towards modding/using their assets. Great work there!

I really didn't wanted to continue with this subject, because believe or not I don't want to discourage the guy but because of your comment (RealQi) I have to.

Who are you calling petulant children? The one being a child here is you, with your ignorance on the subject, you are also endangering a person, because of your selfish desires, if he decides to stop because of what I said, we simple lose a potential mod but if he continues because of your, be brave! ignore the petulant children! and gets in serious legal trouble... then we lose a mod and a guy could get his life messed up. You can just "walk away" but he not, remember that.

Even tho it may seem, I'm not fear mongering, just giving friendly advice, nor i'm controlled by fear but by wisdom, by years of following mods, I've seen many, shot down by the IP holfers, including ones that were years into production and almost ready to come out, that was even coined into being "foxed" because Fox was the first company to go against mods.

"The term "FOX'ed" is a colloquialism to mean something has been 'taken-down' (often without warning) due to an infringement of Copyright pursuant receipt of Cease-and-Desist Notice. Although C&D Notices have a long history of being issued by Rights holders against others deemed to be misappropriating their Intellectual Property, it wasn't until 20th Century FOX issued a Take-down Notice on a Quake (1) modification, Alien Quake, that the practice became more widely known, and subsequently referred to simply as "FOX'ed" - at the time the Alien Quake mod was capitalizing on the popularity of the "Alien" franchise, Property owned by FOX"

The reason you don't see Alien based mods (that matter).

The most recent mod "foxed" that comes to mind is a small Penumbra UE4 remake, also made by one guy, shot down by Frictional Games, a studio that apparently was very friendly to mods!

This is my last comment on this subject, he has been made aware and that was important to me. I will follow the mod has someone really interested in playing this, being a fan of Arx myself and see how things evolve, BlackcatGameStudio all the best to you and I really hope I'm worrying over nothing.
