Post news Report RSS Are you Still Alive?

Do you have what it takes to be a survivor? Would you survive in a post-apocalyptic world, with no food or equpiment, surrounded by deadly creatures and other survivors? In the upcoming multiplayer survival platformer "Still Alive", you might find an answer to these questions.

What exactly is "Still Alive"?

In "Still Alive" you are a survivor of a devastating apocalypse and your primary goal is to stay alive.
The game is a 2D platformer set in a detailed post-apocalyptic world. In a classic jump & run like gameplay you will need to search for supplies, equipment and weapons. Besides finding weapons, you are able to craft various weapons from stuff you collect while playing.

Survival

If that´s not enough - you have to face two big threats in the world of "Still Alive".
First the "Nexolyths" - an intelligent extraterrestrial microorganism - whom have taken over the earth.
Those microorganisms are everywhere, in every animal or plant, even in the air you breath. If you cant find any protection you will die sooner or later of intoxication.

The second big threat are the "screetchers" - former human beings. The "Nexolyths" have taken over their bodies and mutated them, transforming humans into raging bloodthirsty creatures that will hunt you down if they notice you.

Game Goal

In relatively short rounds (approximately 30 min) the main goal is to survive. If a player reaches that goal he can take his survivor to the next round. This time he will be matched against other characters who also survived 1 or more rounds. If a character dies, this death will be permanent.

The death clock

As a Survivor in the world of "Still Alive", things ain't easy. While you fight against both humans and AI creeps you must also keep an eye on the "death clock". It indicates when you will run out of antidote, which you need to prevent being infected by the Nexolyths.

Multiplayer

"Still Alive" is a multiplayer only game. In every match, up to 10 players (depending on the playmode) will be matched against each other.

Survival (Deathmatch) - In this game mode up to 10 players will fight for survival - each for themselves. Since there is a possibility that more than 1 player survives a round, it is up to you if you want to help other players - or shoot them down.
Team Survival - In this game mode, either 2 teams of 5 players or 5 teams of 2 players will fight in
teams for survival. Only one team will survive at the end of the game.

Editor

We've developed a character editor, so you can build your own individual survivor. Since there is a (very big) possibility that your character dies sooner or later, there will also be a graveyard, where you can view your dead survivors and their achievements.

Status Quo

Now that you know a little bit about "Still Alive", I want to give you a short outline of our current status - and a little sneak preview of our roadmap.

After more than six months of development the game is in an early pre-Alpha state right now. That
means the core system, which consists of the rendering, networking, animation and physics systems, is up and running.

The next step - Kickstarter

Since we are a small self-funded indie studio, we are currently running short on money. Therefore we decided to ask the generous Kickstarter community for help. The exact date is not yet set, but we will start our campaign in spring 2014.

Roadmap

Spring 2014 - Kickstarter campaign
Late 2014 - Closed Alpha
Early 2015 - Closed Beta
Summer 2015 - Open Beta
When everything is awesome - Release

Binji who?

If you've read this far you might wonder who wrote all this stuff. So let me introduce myself. My name
is Nils, and I am a game designer and co-founder of Binji. I started Binji in the beginning of
2013 together with my brother Björn, who also does game design and additional works on the animations and effects. All together Binji is a team of 6 professionals who are currently working on "Still Alive".
