Welcome to the April 2010 News

Hello there people. Did you like our little April Fools joke? Yes? Good. We have had to postpone the new feature we were due to start this month due to people being too busy with life, education and the mod but we're hoping to start our dev blogs next month.

I would like to start off by welcoming 2 new dev members to the team. Aurel, our Millitary Advisor/Modeller/Animator/Mapper (he's a good catch) and anomaly, our new mapper.

Anomaly is working on a new map based on the Ba'al stronghold where Jack O'Neill was tortured. This is still a massive work in progress but hopefully next month will be in a state to show some screenshots of.

Aurel has been working on a number of things so here are some images of his work so far:

Laptop

Food Boxes

Commander Player Model

Well that's all we have for this month. Hope you all had a good Easter and have a great month.

Unless both the dictionary and Word are wrong, I think its spelled Authorized. Dictionary.com returns 'Authorized' when 'Authorised' is typed in. (Firefox is also marking the S version as incorrect)

That's because it's set to US English as opposed to AUS English, UK English or {insert every other English speaking country here}.

It was a joke~ An old one too :P

I see. Well ya got me! I figured it might be the case. I think I'm the only American on the team, but since its a American (USAF) laptop, I think It'll stay :P

It's got an 's'. Americans just can't spell things right. Either that or they're desperately trying to have a language of their own.

Player model's texture seems blurry.

Keep in mind how many player models must be on screen at once. This texture is limited to 1024x1024. Being that Source requires textures to be multiples of 2, the next step up would be 2048x2048. With a minimum of 6 unique player models on screen, you're looking at 25,165,824 (about 25 million) pixels out of memory dedicated to player model textures, and that is without bump maps, normals, specular maps, and the like.

Yep, that was me everyone, I take full blame for the spelling, and the team did warn me about it, but unfortunately the day I was supposed to fix it before the news release, my internet went down.

I still protest that it is a realism effect :P I've seen some horrible mis-spellings on official government labels, signs and instructions in the Army. You've got to remember that the little red sticker on most laptops is probably typed out by some Pvt in an office with 20 other things to do.
