We finally decided to announce our game and make it public on moddb - we have been working on it on and off for quite a while now. We also wanted to recruit people to help us and speed up the progress.Right now it's just me(Terry) doing the coding work and Valentine, who is currently not available, but is the man behind the GFX. We have been working together for some time now. A few words about me: I'm 24 years old and working as a coder for a living(mobile apps, websites, business apps, that kind of stuff), have about 10 years of coding experience and started creating mods/games when I was young.
Some small timeline about our project:
-We started off as a sourcemod plugin for HL2, but hit the limits when wanting to add own animations. (Not talking about a sourcegame, just a mod)
-Made some proof of concept stuff with Unity, but at that time unity was not a good and popular as it is today(and we were looking for something without all those gamemaker features and work on our own tools)
-We then decided to go for an engine, tackled jmonkeyengine, made quite some good progress, had networking implemented, basic combat, etc.
Then one of the other coders(we were more before) dropped and it was hard for me to handle it all alone, so progress was slow and motivation low.
-Moved back to Unity3D, started to work on some proof of concept stuff, simple combat system, networking etc
-Now that's where we are. Currently rewriting some stuff, updating our animation system to mecanim, using some new network engines. We expect to have a simple Deathmatch system in november. Just a few attacks and nothing too fancy at first.
So now I'm looking for some people who would like to join. We need everything(except story/writing stuff)
Website guys, GFX(Modeler, animator, mapper, etc), coder, you name it, we need it.
With every person the progress speed will be increased by ALOT, since I'm the only one working on it right now, until Valentine is back.
Even if we cannot find anyone here, I will still get this basic multiplayer demo up and running by mid november. It might be clunky and not fleshed out, but I finally got the motivation to finish up and tape that stuff we have together, and release it!
