Post news Report RSS An introduction to Grimoire

Grimoire is a fast-paced multiplayer PC game featuring aimed mage combat in first and third person built with Unreal Technology. Players are able to choose from 10 different classes- each having their own set of unique abilities.

Posted by on

Our main focus with Grimoire is for each class to have it's own unique level of depth and rewarding/fun spell mechanics. Every class in Grimoire has four base abilities. Your first two abilities are general spammable spells and the other two are your ultimates. Ultimates have higher cooldowns with more rewarding mechanics and effects. You can then further customize your chosen class by choosing one movement and one utility spell in order to fit your preferred play style. Visit our new website at Grimoirethegame.com for more information or to sign up for our alpha testing.

A brief preview of some spell mechanics in Grimoire:

Nature Ability: Summons a wisp willing to suicide itself for you. Upon casting the ability a second time the wisp quickly darts toward your aimed location, exploding on contact.

Ice Ability: Channels a short ranged cone of damage in front of the caster.

Fire Ability: Cast on the ground to summon a meteor storm dealing massive aoe damage

Earth Ability: Casts a boulder that can be fragmented upon recasting into smaller boulders, spreading aoe damage.

Grimoire features seven game modes:

Arena:

The Arena game mode is inspired by games like Counter-Strike and World of Warcraft. Players will get one death per round and careful aim, quick reactions, and teamwork will ultimately determine which team will win the match. This game mode has a heavy emphasis on class/spell composition and strategy and is designed to promote intense competition between teams.

Conquest:

Inspired by games like Day of Defeat and Battlefield this game mode is based on capturing and defending various areas around the map. The longer a team controls an area the more points their team will gain. Teams will also gain points for the initial capture of areas as well as a large number of points for capturing all areas of the map. When this happens all players will respawn and start fresh. Whichever team reaches a certain total of points will win the overall match.

Team Deathmatch:

This classic game mode will be familiar to all experienced gamers and is fairly simple. There are two teams and each player killed will give points. First team to a certain number of points wins the match.

Free-for-All:

Another classic game mode where there are no teams and each time a player gets a kill they will be rewarded with a point. First player to a certain number of points wins the match.

Capture the Grimoire:

Our third classic game mode in which two teams fight for control over a powerful book of magic, the Grimoire, players must capture and return the Grimoire to their base in order to gain a point. First team to a certain number of points wins the match.

Co-Op Survival:

Drawing on inspiration from the classic Warcraft 3 mod Hero Siege, Left for Dead, and Call-of-Duty’s zombie mode this game mode will pit players against the computer as they try to survive as long as possible against increasingly difficult waves of enemies. Players will start with basic spells and then upgrade and replace those spells with others as they gain experience.

Ascension:

This game mode has one basic premise, use your spells to try and knock other players off of the level to their deaths. Players will also be able to utilize movement spells in order to dodge others and stay on the map. The more you get hit the more knock back enemies spells will do to you and the more difficult it will be to stay on the map. Players ultimate goal will be to reach the highest level on the map and stay in that area. After a certain amount of time that player will win the round and the map will reset.

Lightening in the night look like any 3D engine , not UDK, you should bring some lights like lanterns and lightmppaing in the level, looks flat.
Characters lacks details in their clothes, too simple they are.

Where are the girls ,only males for characters ?

Some effects like stone magic throwing would need some magic aura around it or some motion blurr effect, they just look like 3D moving object in some 3D app, brign magic and effects on them.

Keep the good work.

Hey supra, thanks for your input. We're currently working on incorporating a bit more "pop" to some of the levels showcased in this video, so we'll take into consideration getting a bit more detailed with the lighting. We will be adding a larger variation of models in the future as well(female models included.)
