The fate of the mod. Its been a ridiculous amount of time since I first proposed this mod, I have been working on it and a few aspects have come along nicely but I have to be realistic about how long or how big I can make this alone. There are a few significant stumbling blocks to my initial plans for this mod. So without further adieu, Status Update:

Lets start at the beginning because Ive already mentioned its a good place to start.

Its been a ridiculous amount of time since I first proposed this mod, I have been working on it and a few aspects have come along nicely but I have to be realistic about how long or how big I can make this alone. There are a few significant stumbling blocks to my initial plans for this mod. So without further adieu, Status Update:

270 BC IS NOT POSSIBLE. Victoria 2 time does go back into the negatives but it brakes pretty much everything so a little past the year 0 is a more likely date

Short Term: (Mostly Done)

New Nations - Pretty much done, that's the easy part.

New Names - Also pretty done, Regions have been changed/resized/replaced/removed/etc where necessary after many hours of research on available maps.

New Casus Beli System - This is about 50% done but I'm unsure of its fate as its a little buggy and can be quite overpowered once you have knocked out most of the enemy army as Victoria 2 doesn't play all that defensively

Medium Term: (Somewhat Done)

Population - "This is simply a matter of scaling" Is what I said at the time, On reflection this is a very shoddy way to do things and Ive been researching available populations and estimating a temporary population when numbers are not available, I intend to try and eventually have no estimates left.

Impassible lands - Again as part of adjusting the map this is mostly done, Used in conjunction with impassible borders it ensures that the map stays confined to relatively civilized parts of the world.

Long Term: (Slightly Done)

Passive/Reworked Diplomacy - This would be scripting to make it friendlier to have longer wars or perpetual wars such as having a active warring frontier, This would apply to reworked CBs as holding a frontier would stop enemy armies just walking in and taking over as oppose to the protection in the old CB system where you had to be mostly invaded so having some frontier provinces occupied didn't matter. Would also include more scripted relations in terms of relation points between nations doing certain things. Would also greatly limit what nations could be influenced by great powers. Ive done some mild changes to how influencing nations work and making a state of war kinder.

Revised Industry - Haven't gotten around to it yet but still figure it seems doable

Revised Goods - Haven't gotten to it yet again but should be possible

Reworked Units - This is tricky, The original idea was for a lot of different categories but seems less workable, Variation such as different cavalry types will likely be changed to catagories such as heavy infantry, light infantry, artillery, heavy cavalry, light cavalry, animals, etc with regional buffs based on where they were trained or culture type or other variables. haven't gotten around to it yet but will be one of my next things to work on.

Far Long Term: (Impossible sorry)

This was based of the idea that information for a battle would be written to a document which could then be converted to something RTW could read and set up a battle most likely in custom battle, the result would be written and then converted into something that Victoria 2 could read. Though scripting and LUA I thought this might be possible based on having written battles RTW could launch however too many parts were involved and its simply something above my head in terms of programming.

Now for question time!

Is this mod still being developed? Slowly

Can we expect a release soon? Not really

Can I help? Anyone who knows how to modify Victoria 2 would be a great asset to me!

Any other information? Ill be posting a few teaser imagines of the map and some of the concepts over the next couple of weeks

Well about the Casus Belis, as you said, if you knock out the enemy army you get an easy victory? well this is how it pretty much happened that era, only big empires would raise new armies etc.
You should make a debuf about big empires cause of the logistical problems back then, like it would take a month for rome to communicate with the far parts of the empire etc.
As the nations are ready can we have some more pics of the map?
