Hmmmm...like i see above...i'd venture my guess at bandits, nomadic raiders that roam the post-zombie apocalyptic wasteland...maybe they'll inhabit camps around the map and fight both human and zombie players?

Let us analysis this interesting image:
The background has a downed US UH-60 "Blackhawk" transport helicopter with an apparent dead soldier being robbed for equipment and another near the cockpit. Now onto these unknown guys.
Military equipment:
they all use AK-74M's and TT-33 Tokarevs as sidearms plus a machete. Their clothing is not even close to actual army clothing except for a few things. STANAG pouches for M16 magazines can be seen on them, all seem to wear M40 gasmasks with some cloth on top. Two are wearing black helmets. Backpacks look like outdated ALICE gear. They are not the military but their equipment is almost as such.
I am guessing they are some kind of a Survivor stormtroopers perhaps? They cannot be bandits or raiders as there are factions in CoH. Implementing factionless units on the map would require SCAR coding and even then they would have been a rare sight possibly getting wiped few minutes after start.
Are you planning on having pickable supplies on maps à la AoE III?
Your analysis is mostly correct, but your conclusion is not. The AK74Ms are just stand-ins for AK47s and M16s, same with the pouches that they carry. The pistols are actually colt 45s, but they will be replaced as well. I guess we'll have to wait for more information :P
Why would you use Ak47s? You are more likely to see Ak74s due to the fact they are still produced today. I've never even seen an original AK47, only AK74s or the American made semi auto conversion.
I have never seen an AK74 in the United States. I've seen AK47's.

I've got a buddy who's had both, though, he likes the 74. I personally plan on getting a 47, 7.62 is the way to go ;D
