Zeruel87 mod goal is to add as much content and fun as possible.
While this mod is based on "cnc" it does not change anything from the existing content at all but adds a lot of stuff like a huge addon.
Here are the details what awaits you in this mod as of version 0.3:


7 Playable Factions:

  • GDI & Nod - from the original "cnc" mod, untouched
  • Allied & Soviet - imported from "ra", small changes have been done to Powerplants & Refineries to balance these faction more, because "ra" stuff costs less and does more. Also Minigunner and Rocket Soldiers are used from "cnc" because "ra" Soldiers are stronger.
  • Alpha - AlphaTeam from Warzone2100, units are drawn by hand and buildings have been screenshot and added to the game. This faction has a strong defence with Repairable walls and many defensive turrets.
  • Terran - from SC1, all units and sound files are exported from SC1 and added to the game. Some changes have been done to ensure an easy cnc-like gamestyle.
  • SimCity - from the SNES port, a support oriented faction, able to buff and upgrade allied units as well as allied power providing buildings, in addition the faction gains more money than others to assist allied players with money.

10 Choosable AI's:

  • Cabal, Watson & HAL 9001 - from the original "cnc" mod, untouched
  • EasyAI - Builds all Buildings once except Refineries, easy allround AI.
  • MediumAI - Builds more Refineries and Vehicle Construction buildings than EasyAI.
  • HardAI - Build more of each vital building and even more Refineries and Harvesters, strong allround AI.
  • InfantryRush - Build mainly Infantry Production buildings, attacks in smaller armies than other AI's.
  • VehicleSteamroll - Build mainly Vehicle Production buildings, attacks in huge armies.
  • AirForce - Build mainly Aircraft Production buildings.
  • XXLrandom - does what the name says, can build 4x of each building than the regular "cnc" AI's, so he can play like an idiot and build 4 Rader Domes or build 16 Refineries, harvest all the tiberium and crush you without mercy.

3 AI only "Challenge" factions:
AI's in OpenRa work by telling them what to build and to what maximum number.
these factions have only one main building and up to five respective buildings to build units.
different AI only affect the army size to go attacking, these army sizes are:
- 8 - HAL 9001, InfantryRush
- 15 - EasyAI, Cabal, Watson
- 20 - MediumAI, AirForce
- 30 - HardAI, XXLrandom
- 50 - VehicleSteamroll

  • X_Infantry - All Infantry Units from all available factions. no Vehicles and Aircrafts at all!
  • X_Vehicles - All Vehicles from all available factions. no Infantry and Aircrafts at all!
  • X_Aircrafts - All Aircrafts from all available factions. no Infantry and Vehicles at all!

I want to share a TODO list of things that are planned, so let’s get started:

Mod Page:

  • Make a proper logo / image for the Mod and not a Screenshot of the Main Menu.
  • Do more Videos to show off what the Mod offers, like to introduce all the playable factions.

Factions:

  • “ra” factions (Allied & Soviets) are still missing Units such as “Chrono Tank”, “MAD Tank” & “Radar Jammer”, up until now I was just too lazy to add them.
  • Add all Husks for “ra” units that are missing, again I was too lazy.
  • Have a closer look at all the configs, I think there are still some things missing I did not update since the release of openra version 20180923 such as “Locomotor” traits on “ra” units.
  • Improving unit descriptions and checking for spelling errors, I’m certain there are a few.
  • Improve AI for all new/cameo factions Alpha, Terran & SimCity.
    My Plan is to remove the different building options Alpha and Terran have when played by bots to ensure they play as balanced as a Vanilla GDI or Nod.
    For SimCity this is especially hard, the AI should be able to send allies Upgrade Units and Money Trucks.
    For all the above mentioned things I need to learn LUA to program the things, which is no easy task as I have no previous knowledge of scripting/programing what so ever.

Other Content:

  • Making a Map Pack, I think especially some simple “Left VS Right” and “Top vs Bottom” maps are what the Mod needs to have some relaxed Comp Stomp games.

These are the things I want to do for the upcoming v0.4 , I don’t know yet if I will include all the TODOs.

The most difficult thing by far is the AI improvement, as mentioned this is especially hard for the SimCity faction.

So in conclusion v0.4 won’t feature a new playable faction but will be mainly polishing.

Polishing that is necessary since I always kind of rushed my release in fear I won’t have any more time to complete what I wanted to do and I will never release any version and my already made content will be created for nothing.

Since there will be no new playable faction in v0.4 but only polishing I wanted to add a Map Pack to at least offer some new content you all can look forward to :)

for future versions after 0.4 I would love to again add new playable factions such as StarCraft “Zerg” & “Protoss” and any crazy game cameos that come into my mind.

One last thing I would like to add is the feature to be able to play all available “ra” maps in addition to the “cnc” maps, we will see if and when I’ am able to do that in the future :)

As long as I ‘am motivated, get some downloads and nice comments (which are a huge motivation to me) I will continue to work on the mod and add new things.

Congratulations,
One question, can I help with my Dark Reign conversions? since he had an incomplete mod which I want to implement in his Mod, and another question, what other games do you think of doing crossover?

oh and i didn't answer your question what other games i think of doing crossover.

at the moment iam working on one new faction that i want to keep secret for the moment, but i will do a short reveal video like for the terran faciton as soon as i got something to show.

in the future... i dont know yet, maybe complete the Starcraft factions by adding Zerg and Protoss.
all other factions i will do in the future is a matter of my spontaneous ideas :)

i have to say i never heard of Dark Reign before, can you tell me what game this is or a link to a wiki or something like that, so i can look into it.
but joining mods/factions is an awesome idea to make one huge mod with many many features :)

if you want I give you the description here, it is a strategy video game of the year 1997, which has a story with the cliche of the "empire" vs. "the rebels"
