Toward the end of the war the humans struck an important blow, disabling the planetary defence systems. The planet’s remaining resistance was soon decimated by the combined earth forces. Grand alien cities fell beneath endless waves of high explosive warheads. The Strogg war machine, once a horrific and vicious enemy, was completely decimated. The remaining alien forces were beaten into submission, although small pockets of survivors cowered in the ruins -- roaches scurrying from a former feast of riches.
Description
This used to be a commercial addon for Quake 2, however it wasn't fully supported by id software. After a few years the team made the full game availabe on their site. The site was shut down as well as the file. The readme and manual can still be found at QuakeWiki.

Just downloaded this, works amazing with Q2XP mod, 1440p 60FPS widescreen glory. But difficulty is fkn brutal, I died at Medium difficulty on Map 2.
Does this have any custom music, or it's just the same as standard Quake 2?

I have a weird bug where the door doesn’t open on the first level after pressing the switch on the level above. I see on you tube others have had this issue but I can’t find any fix for it - if anyone can help much appreciated.

How were you able to get Yamagi working on the steam deck?
Go into the linux side of Steam os and Yamagi is very conveniently is available to download within the app store. Virtua 4 signed in as a guest :)
Answer to 'Virtua4':
That door does open but only stays open for about 10 seconds, when it closes it won't open again. If you hang around to shoot the drones then it will be too late. From where the button is it is possible to jump down onto some boxes and get through the door in time. Best to do a save before pressing that button.
