Please post the Specs of the PC using to run with that many ships cause if he has a really good pc he wont lag that much compared to someone who has a low to med range gaming pc and plus with the ships being black on top because of the lighting setting for the map will also cause a bit higher FPS, a bit but not by much and i only seen 1 ship come out of that blackness in the video.

I was never one of those people that complained about anything you guys did but we all know this engine can handle a massive amount of high poly stuff on the screen at once but if your pc can't handle it then it's not worth playing so please post the specs of his computer to show people that he only was about to do this with a pc like that.

We have always stated that we are creating a "high end mod", but we are taking every precaution to make it enjoyable for as many as possible. I know Geroenimo does not have a computer as strong as mine, but it is a good computer nonetheless.

I am sure he will post his specs when he is online next.

Is there any possibility of placing more ships at the same timeout of hyperspace with one click? (like in a formation)

Reply Good karma Bad karma+1 vote
Burntstrobe Author
Burntstrobe - - 3,471 comments

It is possible to have entire fleets hyperspace in as 1 unit, but we are uncertain if we wish to do this yet. It might be done for the 5th fleet, but we are not decided yet

I don't like that idea. If you do this please make a patch for the normal way of placing ships.

Placing ships one by one gives you absolute control over your strategy. That's why I always spawn a single corvette or a fighter squadron first and then rest of the fleet.

Unless you plan to make some AI which adapts to player's way of thinking and knows where would one place each ship, I suggest you don't go with that idea.

edit: Only good idea I could think of that involves joined spawning is having larger formations of fighters or bombers.
Like squads, platoon and companies in land combats, there could be something similar in space.

Right.

No.

No, it's actually:

"I don't like this idea" (joined spwning) ", please keep the current one " (vanilla, one by one spawing) "and don't do all this extra work."

you´re welcome ;) It would be useful, because now it seems to me that the framerate isn´t actually good at all and I´m therefore wondering, if I´m the only one who sees the lag in it (beside the time it needed to even load the high-poly beast onto the map from the reinforcements)... :D

I don't complain as long as it's bearable unlike the people in youtube who complain if gameplay isn't 60 fps.

Once the ships started firing there was indeed lag. About the 60 fps thing. This isn't competitive strategy or first person shooter play. In proffesional starcraft II for example, you need those 60 frames per second or you can't stutter step your marines properly with your 300 APM. That, and 60 looks way better than 30. Sadly, youtube is locked to 30 fps.

I do have a comment do you think you could possibly increase map size for combat? or somehow make the units smaller to make it seem bigger? for more area to be used for massive unit battles?

This isn't the vong mod, this is my mod: Moddb.com

It was actually just a slight test after karcov asked me to run it with my Bellator, I wasn't expecting it to be uploaded to the moddb page, otherwise I'd have chosen different music, this is what I was listening to at the moment of recording, it wasn't even intentional actually.

Description

Hello everyone.

Some of you may have noticed how our dev team here at YVaW has been under attack recently. Those who oppose our production and are fearful of us releasing this mod for all to enjoy have stated such claims as "we don't know how to texture", "we don't know how to code", "our particles are too intense", "our ships are too high poly", and that "we generally have no clue of what we are doing".

To those special people, the ones who make these claims, the ones who constantly try to turn our own fans against us, the ones who spend more time attacking our work instead of improving their own, for these very special individuals:

We proudly present Stress Test #3

Geroenimo has been kind enough to compose this stress test for us. The average cruiser in YVaW has about 20K triangles to 60K, with only the very few large ships reaching high poly counts.

In this video, the ship being used has 181,679 triangles. 50 of these ships were placed on the screen at the same time. All 50 are firing their weapons.

There is virtually NO LAG DETECTED.

We will continue to strive for developing the best possible product we can, for our fans have asked for it, and we intend to deliver.

We thank everyone for your support.

Strobe
Leader of the Vong Project
