Description
an upgraded Lancer frigate, with 6 dual AA towers removed and replaced with 5 medium turbolaser turrets, the Whip Hand was a much formidable variant of the Lancer escort frigate, modified by the Empire for strike missions before being handed over to the New Republic Defense Fleet. Due to the extra power from the missing AA tower, the Whip Hand is able to resort some power to Power to Shields, allowing it to last longer in fights.

Wait, wouldn't the medium turbolaser turrets take the power that the old turrets used?
6 were removed, only 5 were added, so that sorta leaves some extra energy....
Lancers were pretty fragile ships, and were intended to be escorts only to larger capital ships, yet somehow, the Whip Hand was able to outlive much larger cruisers and survive for many battles, so we needed some form of mechanism to allow this ship to live longer
