After taking heavy losses to Fel's Force Spike flight of clawcraft, Fel gathered his remaining Claw's and regouped at Hapes with the Hapan pilots, forming Vanguard Squadron. Soon reinforcements from Chiss Space arrived, filling out the squadron to be an even mix of 6 clawcraft and 6 Hapan Miy'til fighters, who flew together until the end of the war.
Yellow was an homage to the royalty of the Hapan, as well as the color of Household Phalanx of the Chiss
Was this the tease? Or was this the precursor to something even bigger? But either way eh hem... ON THIS EPISODE OF PIMP MY FIGHTER...
Thrawn's Pimp Claws!
I'll buy 400. But seriously though, you guys are doing so much more than honoring the lore of Star Wars. You bring everything about it to life.
I had no idea the Clawcraft had s-foils like that...or variable wings at any rate. Also, what are the blue things on the leading edge of the wings? Maybe it's already been addressed but are they maneuvering thrusters?

The description on wiki is very vague, and open to interpretation, which we took advantage of after reviewing many online fanon variations:
" stemming from the junction of cockpit and drive pod were two pairs of curving wings which thrust out like an X-wing's strike-foils, and then extended forward in a claw-like grip around the cockpit."

The blue flames are the steering jets on the wings. As the clawcraft flies, these four flames will independently and randomly ignite on and off, to represent the fine-tuned maneuverability of the clawcraft.
Ah, they are indeed maneuvering jets then. Interesting choice considering that most other craft use repulsor technology to do this. However, it does really represent the unique technology that the Chiss would have come up with, living with such an isolationist attitude (much like the unique ships and culture of the Hapans).
I'm going out on a limb by saying that "low tech" Chemical Reaction Control Systems, as displayed here are probably more simple to maintain in field conditions. in theory, you could literally have something as simple as a compressed CO2 can to provide reaction control.
