In the Battle of Endor fighters destroyed the Deathstar. But with out capitalships they would have been helpless. The big need the small, like the small need the big.
Your point is valid. However, your argument is critically invalid and pointlessly wrong where-as Buffet Restaurants are involved. And on that note, you cannot disagree.
the strengths of the Mon Calmari Fleet lie in its durability and power-projection.
the MC80 Liberty is said to be the rough equivalent of an Imperial-1, yet carries less firepower and fewer fighters.
Mon Remonda led a task force in the fight against Iron Fist (at the time, the 8km figure was used for Iron Fist, so stick with that for the moment), an Executor-class Star Dreadnought, and went toe-to-toe with her on several occasions.
a good rule of thumb, for me at least, when dealing with Mon Cal ships is that their shields are of the next sized-up class for smaller craft, so a corvette would have the shields of a light frigate, etc, and larger craft are going to probably be significantly stronger.
in the case of the Liberty, figure an ISD-1+50% to an ISD-2 in terms of shielding. i cant remember the exact figures off the top of my head, sorry.
for power projection. yes, many of the Mon-Cal ships have a smaller compliment of fighters than their counterparts, but their fighters are typically better (comparison to the Imperial TIE series).
ill make this a brief comparison
with a few exceptions, the fighters of the Rebel Alliance/New Republic/Galactic Alliance can match or outclass their Imperial counterparts because of shielding, the ability to carry heavy ordnance, individual traits, the skill of the pilots, and with the exception of the Defender-class Fighter as well as the K-wing, their ability to use Hyperdrives, so less time can be spent launching or recovering fighters
the only grey areas are those dealing with the E-wing, K-wing, Scimitar Assault Bomber, TIE Avenger, TIE Defender, Assault Gunboat, Missile Boat, and Defender class Fighter.
one could argue that the Scimitar and the K-wing can be compared, but thats about it
Is there any way to have hyperspace capable fighters decant with the carrier vessel? rather than having to spawn? Not sure how the game mechanics work in that regard

Why are there all those rectangles on Viscount and Mediator around the turrets? They don't seem to appear on other ships.
The mediator and viscount were made specifically for the New Republic, and therefore show some humanistic building traits such as "block superstructure construction". The little rows of squares you may have noticed are anti-ship missile launchers.
All MC ships were made specifically to accommodate the Mon Cal physiology. The only exception is the MC80B Allegiant (made at kuat) which was designed for a human crew, and therefore displays more humanistic design principles, most notably the bow extension that mimics the Nebulon B.
In short, humans like angles and squares, fish people like bubbles ;)

That's no problem I've played a mod with very large amount of buildable units and they solved it by adding a menu of types of units on the side of build bar; for example: if you want to build a frigate, you click on frigates and all buildable frigates are shown in the build bar.
A slider is a good option too, but I think it's the harder way.
We will not be using the slider ;)
I get the feeling that we will not see some kind of overhaul of the original menu, but an entirely new one. Or like Burnstrobe would say: "Something you have never seen before."
that picture kind of gives you a perspective on just how big the biggest ships are compared to the small ones, and consider that at this point even a corvette is many times bigger than one of our own carriers. yeah, these ships are huge.
Something always fun to keep in mind:

so maybe there was a bit of hyperbole in my comment, still. that leaves the corvette at much bigger than one of our own corvettes would be. up there with destroyers and such. and still only a fraction of the size of the largest vessels.

this is not a slight against the Viscount in either the SWEU, or in your mod, but i would rather use the smaller craft. its the game engine. ive used Executors in vanilla, Phoenix Rising, and Thrawn's Revenge. it just isnt really worth it to me to use. the main issue is their maneuverability which mostly stems from their size.
again, i like the craft, and you have it made beautifully, but i find that my play style works better with a small fleet of smaller ships.
I tend to agree, they can be sitting ducks, but a SSD always makes its own unique impression!
