Engine Glow magic by Cheesecake

So to make this, about 2/3 of the original mode needed to be deleted and totally recreated: this included the wings, the engines, the cockpit, the lasers, and half of the fuselage. I was able to recreate all these parts to look identical to the original, but use only a fraction of the polygons. The texture was then edited in photoshop to fit the rearrangement of the new model UV.

The fighter is rigged to have the Lock S-Foil ability, and its weapons include 4 lasers and 2 light proton torpedo launchers

Finally, a mod where the X-Wing has its canonical payload. Beautiful piece of work, be hard to concentrate with so many nice things.

Will the S-Foils be deactivated when it enters combat?

We are currently hard at work trying to solve this:

Kad Venku, Wariscool, Jedi_Clone_X2, Sacer, Cheesecake and myself have been working for the past 3 days on trying to solve an error with the default Lock S-Foils ability. Apparently, in the default EAW/FOC game, when Lock S-Foils is activated, the x-wing loses its engine particles... probably no one has ever really notice this, but it doesn't makes sense. When the Wings are closed, the fighter is supposed to fly faster, but petroglyph coded the ability to turn off the engine particles... How can a fighter move faster with no engines???

Cheescake has made a stunning Power to Engines particle for the new X-wing. We are working on developing a script that enables both the Lock S-Foils and Power to Engines particle to become activated at the same time when the special ability is pressed. This will allow the wings to close, weapon damage reduced, speed increased and gives the fighter its enhanced Power to Engines particle effect to indicate faster flight. This is still in development, but we are hard at work to solve this.

When X-Wings are deployed, they will deploy with wings open, ready for combat. The Special Ability of Lock-SFoils will close the wings, enabling the faster flight. Due to the urgency of battle brought upon by the Vong war, we felt it was better to have the fighters deploy 'battle ready', and the faster flight ability is something that can be manually activated so that fighters can immediately attack the enemy without the need of micromanagement of the player to activate this for all fighter squadrons.

Mmm just adding a PTE particle will solve this, you dont need any scrpit, lock s foils works exactly as the power to engines ability. lock s foils look for a pte particle and if the model got a PTE particle it will appears,

I use this X wing model in my own mod and I very thnaks full with you guys finally a excellent model with PTE particles I just miss the shadow mesh

As far as we have checked, yes.

We are not making our game for any profit, everything we create is completely free. Mod DB's new rules permit porting, and we always credit the original developer, and promote their work. DICE's Battlefront is an amazing game, I enjoy playing it.

I dont know if anyone knew this but on their website, dice claimed to have used photogrammetry(?) which allowed them to photograph the actual props and port them in game. they said that the environments and vehicles are literally from the movie. Which i think is awesome. just thought I'd share this, as you said you used their x-wing model.

it is truly astounding the level of detail that Lucas Arts made for their props, something that will probably never be seen again thanks to CGI, which sadly will never be as good as the original. For all the computer effects possible, nothing will ever beat natural lighting and and true shadows.

Awsome, still holding out for variant with a R5 astromech slotted in. Glad you guys fixed the S-foil issue.

Maybe make it so that there are different types of astromech units in the X-Wings? Some have a little damage, etc, determined at random? It might be nice to see variety in the fighter squadrons, adding a little more diversity into the mod.

Sure, it's just a fighter.... but without this fighter, there would have been no hope for all.

Which is why we felt it to be important to give this fighter the best possible texture we could, and we could find nothing better than the amazing piece of artwork created by DICE's Battlefront.

We have worked very hard to poly reduce and recreate more than half of the model just to make sure it was low-poly enough to be used and still utilize DICE's amazing texture. It is by far the best texture I have ever seen for an X-wing, amazing job DICE.

Special thanks to Jedi_Clone_X2 for the port.
