The Interdictor Star Destroyer was developed by KDY towards the end of the Civil War as an improved solution over Eriadu's Immobilizer Cruisers. Heavier armor and increased armament was allowed due to building the Interdictor onto the frame of a Imperator MK2 Star Destroyer. Although drastically undergunned when compared to the ISDMK2, the Interdictor was still a deadly ship, armed with point defense weaponry, and many AA and Anti-Frigate weapons. The only heavy armament carried by the Interdictor were a few dual heavy turbolasers and 1 ocutuple heavy turbolaser battery.
During the Vong War, as the New Republic developed its Modernization Program of new ships, a new heavy battleship was still needed for mass production. The 'Republic-Class' Star destroyer and the 'Nebula-Class' Star Destroyer held this role for the longest time, but they were both very costly to build and Republic Class SD's were only produced at Rendili. Kuat proposed the solution of a new line of Star Destroyer built off of the hull of the Interdictor. 2 new star destroyers were immediately introduced to the war, the Elegos A'Kla and the Mon Mothma. These new types of Star Destroyer featured internal housed gravity well generators and stronger shields than previous Star Destroyers but but were not as heavily armed as the ISDMK2 or the Republic Star Destroyer of Rendili.
The few remaining Interdictor Star Destroyers were found within the Imperial Remnant fleets, and the Elegos A'Kla and Mon Mothma Star Destroyers will be hero units for the mod. Production of the New Republic Star Destroyer will be limited to only the 2 hero ships since they were prototypes and not many were found yet amongst the New Republic Navy.

I think I have seen that design before, just didn't know it's name.
I also have a suggestion that I found a few years ago and came across it again. The Viceroy star destroyer. I think it is perfect for the Chiss Ascendacy.

New Republic Star Destroyer looks pretty cool.
While the ISDMK2 was still the king of the Star Destroyers, public fear of the ship prevented the New Republic from openly using many of those that survived the Civil War. The New Republic star destroyers featured more heavy ion weaponry to help portray the role of peace keeping.

Late post I know, but it looks like the retrofit New Republic Star Destroyer has 6 Turrets on each side there, while the ISDMK2 only has 4, so how does the ISDMK2 outgun them? What is their difference in armament? I checked Wookieepedia and they seemed to indicate that the weaponry of the 2 retrofits remained unchanged compared to the standard ISD, which would confirm their outgunned-ness, but the design seems to indicate the opposite. It looks fantastic either way. :)
The six big turrets might only be Heavy Quad Ion cannons, outclassed by the Imperial-II's heavy octupal cannons. Plus, the latter might include more weapons overall as well.
