Behold the Yuuzhan Vong Army! This mod adds the Yuuzhan Vong Race as a playable faction and all units of this era. We are a community of modders working for the greater goal, so anyone who wants to help or support us is welcome!
That's what happens when nostalgia kicks in and you remember the games from the X-Wing-Series... Or AotR (Thanks for giving me the idea!)...
And is there something more frightening than a full squadron of TIE fighters in close formation, moving as if they were one?
--------------------
New formation being applied to almost all TIE-series squadrons, which will provide some visual difference between the shoddy Galactic Alliance way of handling things, and the stability and order the Empire provides.

Now this makes the TIE-Fighters look a lot better than they normally are, but long live the Empire!
A wall of TIE fighters i like it nice work.
"Shoddy" them fightin words M8
A squadron of TIE fighters was normally composed by 12 fighters. Is that the ammount of fighters you are going to put on each squadron?
Yes, squadrons are being composed of the right amount of fighters unless there are gameplay reasons which prevent this, like a certain fighter being overpowered as hell.
It's just a little tricky to get all 12 of them in one shot when they are ... upwardly mobile all of a sudden ... and I think I lost one or two along the way to a DP20.
I was thinking of trying to do this, but could never get it to work. Glad to see you solved it. Looks great!
Not much of a mistery there...
These are the tags you work with in the squadron definition (and if there is one, the container):
<Squadron_Units>
^ In this tag you put the fighter units for the squadron, but you can as well use it to pre-group them. In my case I have a total of 12, pre-grouped into four groups with 3 fighters each.
<Squadron_Offsets>
^ This one takes a 3D floating point vector and describes the offset from the center of the squadron for a fighter. You need as many as fighters. So in my case there are 12 such vectors, the first one applies to the first fighter added in the <Squadron_Units> tag, and so on.
<Max_Squad_Size>
^This is the size of the selectable group. In my case I want the full squadron selectable as a whole, thus set it to 12. If you wanted a squadron consisting of 12 fighters, but have two controllable formations of six fighters each, you'd have to set this to 6.
<FormationOrder>
^ Not too sure about this, but I think it describes how the places are being filled up, if a unit has been lost.
<Squadron_Formation_Error_Tolerance>
^ This takes a float as well, describes the offset a fighter is allowed to have from its designated position defined in <Squadron_Offsets>. The closer the fighters in your squadron operate, the smaller this should be. I use it to distinguish Elite squadrons from normal squadrons as well. Elite fly in closer formation with less error tolerance.
If your squadron froms a container, those values have to be mirrored in there as well.
For positioning, I'd recommend a page like this:

Ah, makes sense. Thanks for the help. Also, amazing work, can't wait to see the final product.
Kinda just waiting for an imp star duece to cut across the shot while the first few notes of the imperial march play in my head
Maybe after New Years....
Whenever I added VVAW's TIEs Id add the squadron offsets from AOTR :P
Ah... The x-wing series. Still playable if you are willing to go through several hours of troubleshooting. I know I was. :D
Or you buy them on gog.com if you don't feel like fiddling around with a 8 bit installer. I've rewritten that d***ed thing once. Not again.
Never had an issue with those. And those games were well worth rebuying.
They should honestly just remaster them and sell them as a bundle. Disney would make so much money then.
Yep, they would have my money for sure.
Just imagine TIE-Fighter with today's graphics... The mission briefings in 3D, maybe even running around in a small part of the ISD? Or X-Wing Alliance...
If only the empire brought back clones.but also for the EMPIRE
