Description
not a buildable unit, but the Black Sun Freighter will be seen as parts of pirate fleets and along with Refugee efforts. More commonly seen in the Outer Rim, the Black Sun Freighter had good armor, weak shields and fast engines, but was only armed with 2 light AA laser turrets and 2 bow mounted heavy lasers.

Id be curious to see whether a CR90 or the black sun freighter would cone out on top. Heavy armor vs. Heavier firepower.
The CR90 was a dedicated military ship. This is a freighter that is essentially given basic defensive armament. Apples to oranges, really.
I thought the CR90s were origionally diplomatic vessels (correct me if im wrong, i could be thinking of the Tantive IV) Plus, the freighter has heavy armor.
It does state that on the canon wookipedia page, yes. If you look at the Legends page though, it states that the CR90 was designed as a capital ship but that the design was intentionally designed to be easy to modify for various roles.
Since this mod takes place in the Legends universe, I default to that description.
Capital ship? Dont you mean corvette?
Nope. In SW, a corvette is a type of capital ship. Capital ship is an umbrella term. Here, from the wiki:
"Capital ship was a general term that referred to any armed military starship that had a length greater than one hundred meters. Ships of this class ranged from small and nimble corvettes like the Corellian Engineering Corporation CR90 corvette to titanic Star Dreadnoughts, such as the Kuat Drive Yards Eclipse."
Notice how it does specifically say military starship. But weapon strength and offensive power was also considered. This is why even the Gat-12 Skipray Blastboat, while only seating 4 individuals, is sometimes considered a capital ship:
"While small enough to be carried aboard capital ships as a starfighter, its immense power output (produced by a Sarylcorp ViX multi-flux reactor), weaponry, and shielding caused some registries to designate it as a capital ship itself."
Huh. I always thought stuff like the Imps and Imp-deuce or the MC-80s were capital ships. You learn something new every day! :)
Yep, and that's a totally justified perception. Most other Sci-Fi universes (and indeed many SW sources as well) use Capital Ship as a catchall term for the "big ships" but that's technically just not the case in SW.
Anyway, I think if it were an unmodified CR90, there would be no contest. That is, assuming that we weren't taking the crew and captain into account. A good captain can turn the tide even with an inferior ship.
This ship is much smaller in size, comparable to the YZ-775...
