The Xenoforce Reborn mod takes the classic Xenoforce mod from CNC Generals and re-invisions it on the CNC3 engine with new units and new designs. The new armies that are currently scheduled to be in the mod are the Earth Federation, ZEON, the Invid, and the Earth Robotech Defense Force. We also have heavily modified the original CNC3 armies, giving the GDI, NOD, and Scrin a much more dynamic gameplay experience. This mod is NOT FOR PROFIT and NON-commercial based.
Originally the 3 trooper types were just going to be texture swaps. After that didn't give the proper effect that we were looking for (read:you couldn't tell the difference between the squads at a glance even after the texture swap was done) I had to get creative.
After a bit of model work (and some inspiration from War-hammer 40k) I've added some new equipment to the 2 new types that are now available so that they are now easier to identify.
The Sonic Troopers are the ones in the bluish armor with the pipes on their back packs and skull on the front of their armor. These guys are equipped with the new GDI Sonic Cannons.
The Assault Troopers are the ones with the massive jump jets on their backs. They are equipped with a recoiless cannon for anti-vehicle fighting with an underside grenade launcher for dealing with infantry.
Finally the units that you already know are still there with their Rail Cannons.
There is more to differentiate these units though. The Sonic Troopers and Assault Troopers are buildable from the barracks and have a range of 3000 for their jump ability allowing for quick deployment on the field.
The Zone Troopers however can no longer be built and can only be dropped in with the Commando in the Drop Pods. Their jump range is still the same.
Personally I think it's a fair trade.
