Story: After entering the portal at the end of Half-Life you are frozen by the Gman. Many years pass and humans build and occupy a city called Xentopia on Xen. Xen Life forms are captured and held in prison. While citizens of Xentopia continue to live in prosperity, a prison guard finds a blue eyed vortigaunt near the prison. They capture it and put it into a cell immediately. After a few hours later the unique Vortigaunt proceeds to overtake the prison and free all Xen life forms. Xen life forms start to terrorize the city to take their home back. After few weeks later when the city is at the edge of chaos Gman wakes up his secret weapon. Gordon Freeman.

FAQ:
Q: The game won't load the first map.. it doesn't seem to get passed the cutscenes.
A: Type map p1v1 in the console to get to the first playable map (you can bring it up by pressing tilde, make sure you have -console added to your hl shortcut properties)
Q: The mod gets stuck in a level change.
A: Remember to save at the beginning of every map, and regularly quicksave. If the mod gets stuck try quickloading and trying again.
Q: I'm getting various random crashes!
A: Try copying pak0.pak from your gearbox folder (or pak1 depending on which is larger) and paste it into the Xen Assault folder. That should fix most of the problems.
Q: It ends abruptly!
A: The last 5 levels are far to buggy to play. That is unlikely to change.

Wow, this is kind of amazing that I've never touched this mod before despite it being out since 2010, well before I had my massive binge of Hl1 mods.
Havent finished it yet, but some of the combat encounters are damn challenging. Especially once the Shocktroopers get involved. Narrow corridors don't help with the combat but all the environments, no matter how cramped, feel well made and full of character. I appreciate mods that dare to do something different from the regular Black Mesa Incident side-story angle. Some really amazing ideas and details put into this. A lot of thought and time. Surprised it doesn't get more attention.
Seems like it's been unfinished for over a decade, though from what I've played there's a lot to sink your teeth into. It's not short by any means, even if a demo. Makes me wonder what else was planned. May never know now.
