FAF isn't a cult, this is the weirdest take I've seen in a while.
They only work on FAF because FAF has numerous changes which are not compatibile with the base game.
These mods work on FAF because the people who support and literally pay to upkeep FAF, put their own free time towards supporting these mods on their platform to keep them working long after the authors have abandoned them for whatever reason.
Asking these people to support multiple versions because you've got some wierd thing about registering for a community, opensource client project, which is one of the only ways to play MP and the ONLY way to play coop, is just sheer entitlement.

In our time, all the mods are dying, mod's devs are loosing their motivation to create of update their awesome mods, what a shame, FAF will become less attractive, at least, for me, because I love mod, remember those good old times when you could have more than 40 mods with 20 mods adding units and buildings, it was a good time, but not anymore =(

Well, all I can tell you is : I'm still trying to use many mods, but sadly, most of them are not compatible due to their game's versions which are old, so the most of 2013 are useless aswell as some 2014 ones, but I'm still making modpack, I mean, I'm still stack a lot of mods when I play, because I guess that this is the funnier way to play, anyway... LOVE MODS, still using more than 30+ at the moment, with 80% of them adding unit or else. Even if the developers will stop to update their mods, I will try to standby on this game, at any cost, because I like it, I guess it will take time for my mods to get reduced to 30, then 25, 20, ect... But until the day I reach around 5, I will still camping on that game, because it's awesome.
