Yeah sorry can't really agree about the particles, way too sharp, seems like they are on their own "layer" if you look from far away like in this shot.

Might have to agree with you slightly on that one, it was hard to get ingame and get a good frame of the actual arty impact, I can promise you it looks alot better when its ingame + in motion though :)

Why do you make your trenches so incorrect? They're far too open, short, and straight. They don't have proper traversing or depth in any official map i've seen. They'd provide no protection against artillery and are far too easy to enfilade. Just look at that forth picture. A few enemies prone in the foreground would render it completely useless as a defensive position.

Honestly as you may know, the maps have to be balanced in terms of gameplay too. There was also several hundreds/thousands way of building a trench back in the day too!(It also varied on what nation who was building them) Alot of the trenches you see in these pictures are based off the ones in the old version which is something we did because the layout worked great in 1.13b. Obviously we're striving for historical accuracy too, though this might not shine through on these pictures. You'll still find that all of the old stock maps have been remade both visually and gameplay-wise when you play version 2.0. We'll admit version 1.13b has alot of problems when it comes to the stock maps though, though this is as I said being corrected in verison 2.0

Description

Hello there fellow trenchrats!

We've been quite silent as of lately, but dont worry; work on the mod is still being done despite the fact that most of us are busy with real life! Here's a little treat for you to show that we're still alive.

Some of you might recognize this map from the 1.13b version of WWI:S, it's our very popular map ww_somme which was made by our teammember 'Ztormi' back in the day. In 2.0 it has been remade and been improved both visually and gameplay-wise.

Credit for this new version goes to 'Semmel', an amazing mapper we have the privilege of having on our team.

Our new artillery-particles that you can catch a glimpse of in one of the pictures were made by the kind contributor 'Vman', and as you can probably see they are a huge improvement over the old ones.

Stay put for more news-material in the future!
