Pretty simple, you get to play WW1 instead of WW2. You can start in 1910 and fight your way through the Italian-Ottoman war and the Balkan wars, or jump straight into the action in January 1914 in preparation for the main event. The events, leaders, ministers, governments, orders of battle, tech tree, units, graphics, game mechanics and AI have all been rewritten. Game features include: Units will dig in much more effectively meaning stalemates happen much more frequently to simulate trench warfare. Naval battles are more action packed as Dreadnoughts clash and there are (nearly) no aircraft carriers. Military aviation is in it's infancy but quickly becomes more important as the war progresses The mod includes stormtroopers, zeppelins, gas warfare and submarines Special scenarios for the Spring Offensive and Gallipoli campaign

Next to that, i unzipped this into D:\Steam\Steamapps\Hearts of Iron 3\tfh\mod
It shows up on the launcher, but when i click on launch, nothing happens. Help?

You can't unzip it into that folder, you have to unzip it into C:\Users\[user]\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Hearts of Iron III

does this fix the Italian-Ottoman war for Libya? In 0.9 the Germans break the alliance with Italy but the Austro-Hungarian Empire joins in the war and conquers all their lands, makes the war easy to win with their army so spread thin but.

I have looked at the folders, and I have even tried to re-edit the .mod file and I have had no success so far. I am hoping a DEV can shed some light on this issue.

Yeah, common indeed if many others had my same issue, I would launch the "Launcher" check the mod option I want and hit go, and it would never even launch, just instantly CTD in a way, failed to load. So as I replied to DarrenMarshall above I tried to edit the .MOD file and check around the folders, I'll do this again, I'd guess it's missing a few files, or maybe the pathing is incorrect, I know its really finicky when it comes to this, I modded the game and made the 50 United States and I gave them all the state leaders and such took ages and I had the country.(something) file and I typed CAL(California) wrong on it while it was looking for CLI or something and it never launched. So I hope the DEVs can tell us what needs to be edited or maybe a new download of whats missing or the fix.

Some people have it working.

You may need to delete your map cache in my documents. It will build a new one the first time you run it which takes a long time. Just leave it and t will work eventually, could be 20 mins

The map cache in my documents. A pretty large number of people have it working as is now.

Still no luck. The game runs without the mod selected just fine. I have the mod in the mod folder in the tfh folder. :(

That's normal- there is a cap on mountain brigades since they are elite troops

You have quite clearly messed up install . Your first post made it sound like you couldn't build mountain brigades, which is a common complaint since they are elites in the mod but not in the original game

Your second post made you sound like a sarcastic dickhead, who doesn't deserve any help

The theatre request menu is hardcoded, so basically won't work in any mod with new units

Yes, from build menu i can build it. I just got used to work with queries theatres. In the original game requests theatres work. In the Black Ice mod and HPP works too.

New here, purchased/installed Hearts of Iron III. Downloaded the WWI mod. Question: instructions are that download should be unzipped to the tft/mod folder. This folder doesn't exist for my installation. I only have the /mod folder. So I downloaded the game there. It shows up in the launcher, but doesn't load. Game loads WWII. Game works and all that but no WWI. Should I create the tft/mod folder and put it there?
