I'm currently working on a new version of the mod. It will abandon the arctic theme, because wow, that was bright. And to be honest the vanilla maps look better than the snow versions.
What will be new:
* Pick your ghillie suit style. Also reintroduced a few extra items (like grenades and C4).
* Multiple game modes with an in-game voting system. Currently we have:
a) Target Practise. Shoot the explosive barrels to get a feel for the aiming system. This is effectively a replacement for the singleplayer maps, since bots really don't know how to snipe.
b) Team Deathmatch. Shoot the other team while assisting your own.
c) Free For All Deathmatch. Shoot ALL the other players.
* Improved spawn system. You will now be spawned on ground level (instead of in the air, seen by all). Alternatively you can choose to spawn near your squad leader.
* Reduced view distance (1km from 2km). But I also removed the tracer from the sniper rifle rounds. So aiming is a lot harder, you have to watch closely for bullet impacts near your target.

What about choosing sub machine guns?
I don't think those are coming back. People used those to rush others and blast them at point-blank range. That's just not what this mod is about, so I figured I'd stop incentivizing players to play it that way. ;)
That never happened to me before. Still those things are awesome looking and sounding too.

you figure out a way to make the ghillie suits draw at range?
Everything should be visible at range, I've basically added:
ObjectTemplate.cullRadiusScale 100
to every object in the game (with a program that parses the BF2 con/tweak files).
You can be subtle if you want. If I remember correctly you need to add this to the soldier object and the kit (which includes the ghillie). But it's been a while since I last looked at that.
