Blade of Agony is a story-driven FPS. The project is inspired by WWII shooters from the 90's and early 2000's, like Wolfenstein 3D, Medal of Honor, and Call of Duty, but with faster-paced gameplay in the spirit of Doom! The game can be played standalone using the GZDoom engine as a base. "This is basically one of the best DOOM mods I've come across." - John Romero

This mod is amazing. I binged through the whole mod in one sitting. Each map is so detailed and crafted with love. The story is quite interesting, weapons pack a punch. Enemies varied and challenging.

Just amazing. Can't wait for Chapter 3

looks really really good :-) the only disappointment thus far is that we still have only one default death animation...

Drawing unique sprites in double-sized resolution is a very hard and tedious work. Instead of concentrating on additional deaths, we concentrated on more actors which felt more valueable to us.

There are also generic gibbing and burning death.

Indeed working in double resolution is more challenging and there are just so many actors, that any even small addition to such require tons of artwork overall.

I really like to quicksave and quickload in games as i hate going into menus and saving/loading there. The quicksave and quickload buttons just put me into save game and load game menus. Is there any kind of fix for this? Also kicking is extremely slow and sometimes doesnt even work (even when stamina is full). Also you cant kick doors open.

Unfortunately we can't change anything about the quicksave/quickload feature as it is depending on the engine GZDoom. Regarding the "kicking", I have to agree with that and I will tell our programmer if it is something we can improve. Thanks for that.

Really enjoying Ch 2 after playing an earlier beta of it. Quick question for the devs. I have a relatively old 9600m graphics card on a core 2 duo processor. If I leave all the graphics settings at default, I can only smoothly run the mod at 1024x768. I'd like to run it at higher resolutions. Are there certain effects (e.g. lighting) that I can turn down (rather than off) in order to up my framerate without reducing quality too much? I know I can reduce cinders, smoke, and a few other options. But are there some graphics settings your recommend to speed up framerate without losing too much graphical fidelity? Right now I'm using default graphics settings with the opengl accelerated renderer.

There are various features in the BOA OPTIONS that you can decrease, for example the distance models are rendered. This often increases performance if your GPU is too weak.

Do not use OpenGL filters, resize ones and avoid Multisample.
I simply suggest to remove all filters in general, no shadowmaps too, and enable at least Bloom effect.

Most resource demanding effects on BoA are smoke, snow and obviously 3d models, plus a copule of special effects.

Keep always your GPU drivers up to date and avoid playing BoA while online (specially with Chrome, it would eat your ram - we have a similar pc so trust me that I know it)

Hi, i have some questions. I downloaded the standalone version, and i seem to be with a really low FPS. What are some of the possible causes? Even in lower reslutions this won't change.

You must decrease values inside Enh. Options, check rendering ones and reduce distance for all values to 2048.

Delete your .ini file that's with Standalone version and configure everything by your own, also don't forget to keep your GPU drivers updated.
