In March 1990 the Soviet Union is unsettled by the elections in the DDR as parties supporting reunification grew larger in power. The Soviet Union's leadership largely infuriated walked out of negotiations concerning the German Unification causing tensions to grow between east and west.
East Germany in an act of defiance to leadership in Moscow continued negotiations with West Germany throughout early April. Gorbachev threatened the East German government causing the political tone in East Germany to intensify. The DDR continued official negotiations with the FRG despite Moscow's threats and Communist hard-liners internal influence.
On April 21st, 1990 communist hard-liners rioted in the streets and the East German military began to fracture between East and West sympathies leading to a military coup. The military coup found Soviet backed support within three weeks as Soviet forces in the area began to suppress East German loyalists.
On May 7th the fighting intensified within East Germany and negotiations officially broke down between the two Germanies. NATO forces were mobilized and strengthened in the region in case of spillover with NATO threatening retaliation if fighting spilled over into West Germany.
On May 19th fighting alongside the border intensified as a Soviet Armored Battalion mistakenly fought through the West German Border Guard at Helmstedt–Marienborn border crossing due to an officer's tragic mistake. The German forces quickly routed the Soviet Forces back across the border and pursued in force before withdrawing back to West German territory.
Both sides claimed the other was the aggressor, but with the border between East and West quickly firing up in all sectors war was officially declared by both sides on May 30th as NATO reacted in force to push back forces provoking the borders.
Fractured East German loyalists still fight against the Soviet Union and alongside her to restore communists to power while NATO is engaged throughout the West and East German border as the rest of the Warsaw Pact reluctantly, under Soviet pressure, joins the fray.

About your doctrine pictures: I wonder what czechoslovakian one may be in your opinion?
What change in the game this mod?
Currently availability changes, gameplay changes with stats, a few new units, a few other basics. Artillery changes are a big game changer; eventually infantry and other changes including deck changes.
By the time I'm done with it; it'll be a complete overhaul, but I suspended development until DLC 2. Since it has been delayed so has my mod as well sadly.
Overall I think it a more fun single-player experience.
I have unpacked the files in steam/steamapps/common/wargames airland battle/data as I would for any mod in any game (manual install) but literally NOTHING happens. I have downloaded this mod multiple times over and repeated the process of installing also multiple times, but still nothing... Please let me know how to properly install and run this mod, I am very interested in it.
Did you copy the wargame2 application file from the data/pc/(then which ever version this mod uses, i think its 1491 of the top of my head)into the wargame Airland battle folder and overwrite the old wargame2 file?
I got it to work!!!
But now there's a new problem. Scrolling over any non-American F-16 icons crash the game. Is there a fix for this?
not yet however he is updating the mod as the release of the DLC broke his mod, theirs a WIP download out now its not perfect but stable enough to play. your just going to have to wait for a full release, if you want bug free.
