Game doesn't remember last hero Thread - Warlords Battlecry III Widescreen Patch mod for Warlords Battlecry III

So, I have english GOG version 1.03 with widescreen beta 2.

The problem is that the game doesn't remember last played hero. Therefore, it always offers me my 1st hero in the list. So, I have to click arrow buttons to switch between heroes every time to choose another hero, which I am currently playing. I have like 12 heroes right now and it is a bit annoying to choose 6th or 7th heroes by clicking arrow buttons every time.

Is there way to fix this problem?

I figured out there is a special file for last played hero in save folder (Documents\Warlords Battlecry III\Settings\Misc Data.json) and it contains the name of the last played hero, this name (file) changes as I play the game, but it does nothing.
