We're in the process of making the Custodes a playable faction. We aren't in a hurry to finish it since it'll take a long time, so even its beta won't be released anytime soon. However, we'll try our best to make the mod worth the wait considering that a lot of models are going to be custom made by us. SO, having said that, now for the breakdown of our mod: Every mod should have some kind of unique feature that sets it apart from all the other ones. Not only are we making this mod as close to the lore as possible, but also, to give the player a feeling of having fun. Over 80% of the units will not be squads since the Custodes are usually individual warriors. However, there are rare occasions where they must fight together in groups. Custodes are to Grey Knights what Grey Knights are to normal Space Marines. The Adeptus Custodes are extremely powerful, yet come in very small numbers. The aim of this mod is quality over quantity. There will be compromises for such a high quality faction.
As I mentioned in my last article, this mod is highly complex and complicated as far as quality and detail. Whether it is a simple infantry unit or a relic unit, each unit in Dawn of War is a work of art. It takes time and a dedicated mind, motivated by the desire to be creative in order for any mod or game to be successful. Our team would like for this to be highly successful by getting your feedback and enjoyment. Remember, we are enthusiasts, meaning we are nonprofit. We are doing this out of our own kindness for you as the consumer to enjoy, relish and play with.
Now in regards to the mod itself, it is FAR from done. I know, there's the big shock huh? But seriously, we are in absolutely no rush to put this thing out there yet. We have a long way to go before we amass the confidence to release the mod publicly, but it is in safe hands and keeping of our team. We have secured this mod to be of our own, as in, the one and only. It is a mod that is in a category/class of its own so we do not have a desire to compete or to challenge other mods in a contest. Our team has the creativity motive and the mentality of achieving something great for the community, not so much as to toot our own horn.
There will be much content put in it. We are hiring professionals to voice act and to do other spectacular things for this brilliant modification. There are even possibilities of us getting VA's from the "If the Emperor had a Text-to-Speech Device" series. But I find this as a bit of a spoiler, yet, at the same time, tasty news candy. We shall do what it takes to make this mod a professional masterpiece and as professional as it can possibly get. It is to be forged with remarkable craftsmanship, with a team that has the endeavor of making you all wow and have a blast. Impressing the players with a unique faction style, amazing detail/art, and the very faction itself and all of it's unparalleled qualities could not be a better accomplishment for us in this effort.
We will of course in the future consider recruiting eager volunteers/dedicated modders that have a knack or taste for what we are doing. If someone or anyone proves to be of some use, be it little or much, it is all the more splendid. The more, the merrier.
The models in the image gallery are placeholders for the upcoming polished and refreshed models that will be done behind the scenes. We're also on the lookout for other models that we have been notified of that we could use with consent. As of now, we are working on the tech tree, battlefield spotting, and some mishmash with the mod's spreadsheet stats and more. And starting next month, things are to kick off and get much more interesting.
