Every mod should have some kind of unique feature that sets it apart from all the other ones. For this one, we are making this mod as close to the lore as possible. Over 80% of the units will not start out as squads, but rather singularly, since the Custodes are usually individual warriors that fight alone or are sent out alone to other worlds as elite envoys. However, there are rare occasions where they must fight together. Custodes are to Grey Knights what Grey Knights are to normal Space Marines. It is also said that the Custodes are to the Emperor what the Space Marines are to their Primarch or they are to the Space Marines as the Emperor is to His Primarchs. The Adeptus Custodes are extremely powerful, yet come in very small numbers. The aim of this mod is quality over quantity. There will be compromises for such a high quality faction, especially since we also plan to include their supreme leader, the Emperor. As a result of this uber faction, there will not be turrets nor mines.
The leaders of this faction are going to be without doubt, a force to be reckoned with, let alone their ultimate commander, the Emperor himself. The first 'Add Leader' unit is called the Shield-Captain. These are the first step above the Custodes troops on the hierarchy of the leader units of the Adeptus Custodes Army. They are hardened and seasoned veterans of war for countless centuries and are the Sergeant among the ranks of their comrades among the Golden Host. Custodes Vexillas and Armoury Thralls are also support leaders that can be attached to a squad to further boost morale and battlefield effectiveness/efficiency.
The next leader is the first 'Commander' unit of the faction.
The first commander that will be available to the faction will be at Tier I, the Custodian Tribune/Custodian Warden. His presence and ferocious battle power, as well as his highly respected stoicism gives the faction an early game necessity against swarms of enemies using blob tactics. He can also be given an array of close combat weaponry to choose from.
The next Commander unit is the Champion of the Guard. He is the greatest champion of the Throneworld and perhaps the most decorated of all the Emperor's Custodes apart from the Captain-General, who will be brought up momentarily. Like all Custodes, the Champion of the Guard will be very fast when engaging in close combat. His fighting potential is devastating as it is terrifying. A useful unit to have around.
The next Commander is none other than the Captain-General. He is the most gifted, privileged and powerful of all the Custodes--the greatest of the Guard. He is also a High Lord of Terra. As you can imagine, ingame he's an absolute genius of combat and a great leader. He can take on most units in the game by himself, toe-to toe, be it vehicle, commander, or any infantry type. He too has a variety of weapons to pick and choose to further his capabilities.
There is one last potential commander in mind that we have thought about adding apart from the main which is the Grandmaster Of Assassins. The only record of a Grandmaster Of Assassins as far as appearances is Malcador the Sigilite. Thus, one can conclude how the unit will look, but again, he is on the drawing board of things to consider.
And of course, the best for last, the Emperor of Mankind, the greatest of them all. A supergenius in any setting and a brilliant strategist, as well as tactician, he is without doubt the most wise of all the commanders. He is the greatest Imperial commander in history and of all time. In combat ingame, he's to be something close to a god or a mythological deity. Perhaps even as far to say he's a god among men and has unreal fighting potential of otherworldly proportion. And if you are wondering just how that sounds, let's just say he will be the most expensive, but also the most cramped and pokey. Why? Well for a unit that is planned to have no range attack (00-00) but a melee attack of 8,000-16,000 DPS and Health Points of a standard Relic Unit, which is 10,000 HP, as well as boasting Commander Armour with double defense bonuses, and having at least 5 abilities canon to his lore, he's gonna require Tier IV, a captured relic, and he will cost 450 requisition & 450 power. He will also take up the ENTIRE pop cap (20 Support Cap and 20 Squad Cap). He will have the effect of an Eldar Avatar once he is out by adding an additional 3-10 pop cap to support cap and squad cap.
All this to say that the Custodes are a faction of survivability, meaning that they're units that work as a 'One-Man Army'. They are known to hold their own nonstop for very long periods of time because of their perennial and virtually endless stamina. More will be elaborated on the heroes and as always, questions are welcomed for clarification or curiosities. In the mean time, cheerio and Happy Spring Break!
