Warcraft Total War is a total conversion mod for Medieval II Total War. Our goal is to bring the Warcraft universe into a Total War game. This mod will feature epic battles with units from the Warcraft universe and a new campaign that will cover the events of the Third War and beyond.

Report RSS Warcraft: Total War Features and FAQ

Warcraft:Total War (WTW) is based in the Warcraft universe at the begining of Warcraft 3. WTW will feature a huge map, a ton of cool units from the Warcraft universe and new strategic twists with the introduction of large units with high HP (i.e. abominations), magic units (like Kirin'Tor mages) and hero units such as Prince Arthas Menethil.

FAQ:

Q: Will magic be included?
A: Yes magic will be included. It will just be a reskined, highly acurate and destructive missile.

Q: When will this mod be released?
A: It will be released when it's ready to be released.

Q: When in the Warcraft universe does this mod begin?
A: This can be a bit tricky. Imagine that there is an Azeroth international date line with Kalimdor on the left and Northrend and the Eastern Kingdoms on the right. Those on the left are half way through the 3rd war and those on the right are at the begining of the third war.

Q: Will there be new strat models?
A: Yes there will be new strat models for cities, generals etc.

Q: Will there be new religions?
A: Yes there will be new religions: The Holy Light, Shamanistic, Elune, Cult of the Damned/Daemonology and Old Gods.

Q: How many regions are there on the map?
A: Right now there are 130, but this will likely increase.

Q: Will there be any special events in the campaign?
A: Yes, there will be unique events. One example is Prince Arthas. So far into the campaign Lordaeron can choose if they want to send him off to Northrend to hunt Mal'Ganis or not. It they send him off he will either return with a force of elite Lordaeron soldiers after successfuly slain Mal'Ganis withour Frostmourne or he will take up the dark runeblade and join the Scourge faction, giving them a stack of undead warriors.

Q: Will the Undead plague in Lordaeron be repressented?
A: Yes. Right now it will probably repressented in a similar way as was the black death, with plague appearing in the settlements of northern Lordaeron

Q: Why is the Horde just one faction? Why can't you divide them into Trolls, Tauren and Orcs like WoW?
A: Because this is not WoW:TW. At the beginning of Warcraft 3, all the three factions were low on numbers. The Tauren were at risk of extinction because of the Centaurs. The Darkspear Troll tribe was constantly under attack by the Naga, and the Orcs had just left Lordaeron, homeless. The three factions banded together for better survival, but of course each with it's own leader. While the Alliance is made of several factions allied together, the Horde is made of several races that are joined together. Perhaps some of you will ask "but if this is the beginning of Warcraft 3, then they should not have Orgrimmar built yet!". Well this is true, but for gameplay's sake we figured it would be better if both Theramore and The Horde begun with a settlement already.

Q: What will be the unit roster?
A: The unit roster will mostly be composed by easily reconisable units from the Warcraft universe, such as Abominations, Paladins, Footmen, Grunts, Centaurs, etc, but there will also be several fictionalised units to fill the rosters, but these too will easily blend with the faction they are associated with. (For example, Lordaeron will have Lordamere Archers and Lordaeron Sergeants)

another thing. Will there be Outland? will there be a Naga faction (i know it will be a massive pain in the *** to model) who will be the Legion's Faction Leader? Kil Jaedan? will there be an event regarding Illidan for the Night elves? Why does noone agree that Goblins shouldnt have a faction? and will there be an event for Kel Thuzad joining the scourge and setting up in Scolomance or something?

well i think the burning legion faction leader is gonna be archimonde and kiljaeden as the faction heir cause kiljeaden is not seen or mentioned before the legions defeat at mount hyjal and in this warcraft 3 map azeroth war kiljaeden does not appear until when archimonde is dead after being summoned

It may be unrealistic to ask but I was wondering if you could have events, like the 'Burning Crusade'? This will happen very late in the campaign and you could send regiments through the portal in the Blasted Lands, and if they're successful they'll get experience and upgraded (somehow).

This could coincide with the Draenei appearing on Azuremyst and Bloodmyst. Although considering you're doing the Third War and not WoW, I'm not sure how easily implemented it will be.

I do think the Goblins should be a Vassal of the Horde when the game starts. Then when Thrall and Cairne eliminate the Harpies in the Orgrimmar region, the Centaurs in the Thunderbluff region and the humans near Ratchet, The Steamwheedle Cartel will emerge.

Long shot requests aside, Looking great so far!

I don`t think it`s a good idea this blood - high elf thing, because what if the situation is: one turn you`re blood elves and next high elves and then again blood elves, you know what I mean? Kinda loses on it`s importance over time :). Maybe they should just stay blood elves even after they retake sunwell or have player pick a choise: to stay blood elves and Follow Illidan or become High Elves and focus on rebuilding their kingdom? Just a thought, good luck.
