"Guardians of Azeroth" is a mod with a worldwide development team, based on the Warcraft universe by Blizzard Entertainment. In this mod, our team is working to recreate the world of Azeroth in all of its glory, particularly focusing on the story of the classic Warcraft strategy games and World of Warcraft Classic. In this mod, you will be able to assume the role of one of the human kings, elven counts, or murloc chieftans in order test your luck in the quest for bringing Azeroth under your heel! You can restore justice to Azeroth, plunge the world into the chaos and fulfill the prophecy that is the Hour of Twilight, or burn it all in the name of Sargeras. If that is not your style, you can also choose to indebt every living realm on Azeroth to your wealthy Goblin cartel. Every decision is yours to make!

Warcraft: Guardians of Azeroth. World Update №1 - Aftermath of the Plague.

Posted by on

Well met, fellow Guardians of Azeroth.

We hope that you have fun with all the new content we have released recently in Patch 1.4.0: The Falling Stars.

Recently, you might have seen teasers that showcased one of the first 'crisis' events regarding Kul Tiras, and we're happy to announce that it will indeed be a part of the upcoming minor update, amd with it come the Drust vrykul and the associated Throsian necromantic religion.

Now, let's talk a bit about a certain history period that ultimately sealed the fate of the once-mighty kingdom. As you might remember, a certain shady shipment to Andorhal caused a domino effect that ultimately resulted in a colossal (un)death toll in the entire Lordaeron, driving our wayward prince into an unhealthy obsession with a certain vampiric demon and his subsequent fall from grace with the help of a runeblade.

As a result, the entire semblance of order in the Kingdom of Lordaeron went to the gutter as the not-quite-dead prince thrusted the blade through his father's chest and later went on to summon a demon army while genociding nearly the entire high elven population just for the hell of it.

Nearly two years later, the Burning Legion is gone, and there was much celebrating. So much that everyone's still hungover after some winged night elf dude threw a party that was accompanied with earthquakes that could be felt as far as in Icecrown.

Without further due, I welcome you to the wonderful realm of the post-Plague Western Lordaeron.

Having been hit the hardest after the initial incursion of the Burning Legion, the remnants of Dalaran's central government dispersed, with only a token force of mages remaining among the ruined city. However, with Garithos' military support, the magocracy focused their efforts upon the once-insignificant Ambermill, as the Kirin Tor has discovered a dormant ley line node under the town, a discovery that might yet turn the tide in the humans' favor.

To the north, one of the last bastions of Lordaeronian order maintains its hold on Silverpine. After the fall of the Menethil dynasty, the remaining loyalists were gathered under the banner of a controversial Grand Marshal, who had assumed the leadership of the fractured Alliance. Despite being one of the most powerful warlords in the region, Garithos' grasp on the pact is tenuous, as his wary approach to non-human members had already alienated Quel'Thalas and the threat of Ironforge's withdrawal is also becoming a likely possibility, which might lead to complete isolation of the resistance forces as Kul Tiras is busy with their own conflict against an old enemy on another continent and Stormwind faces civil unrest in Westfall. However, should Garithos become victorious, he might be able to restore the last living Menethil on the throne of Lordaeron... or just install his own order as Lordaeron's self-proclaimed monarch.

In the Capital City, the insurgents under Balnazzar maintain a tight grip on the devastated suburbs and the eastern Tirisfal. The dreadlord duo hopes to establish a forge base in the glades that might serve as an entry point for the Legion reinforcements, but their dominion is threatened by the humans from the south and another significant force that was recently bolstered by one of their own...

Enter the Dark Lady.

A victim of the genocidal campaign of Prince Arthas against Quel'Thalas, Sylvanas Windrunner was raised as a banshee in an act of spite for her valiant defense of the elven kingdom. Forced into servitude throughout the rest of the Third War, she had regained free will as a result of Illidan's failed attempt to shatter the Frozen Throne with the Eye of Sargeras. Now seeking vengeance against her tormentor and a place in the world that scorns her and her kind, the Banshee Queen prepares her forces to claim the tortured heart of the fallen kingdom.

As we move on past the major actors of the Western Lordaeronian theater, let's introduce some minor players.

Under the Banshee Queen we have Sigismund Blackthorn, a living human that adheres to the Cult of the Forgotten Shadow. Once a petty leader of a warband that was composed of the lowest echelon of human society, Sigismund was subjugated by the Banshee Queen and now serves her at every beck and call. Recently he begun experimenting with the weird shadow doctrine that was met with equal awe and disgust among his ranks and the neighboring resistance, no doubt a side effect of the Banshee's influence upon his mind. Nevertheless, Blackthorn remains a powerful asset of the Forsaken and his band of brigands is not to be trifled with, as many seem to find some reasoning in the insane drivel of a self-styled Lord of North Tide...

Near the border of Gilneas, a crazed mage of the Kirin Tor and a Gilnean patriot has made his home in the Shadowfang Keep. Following an unfortunate incursion into the Emerald Dream that resulted in the worgen rampage, Arugal was forced to flee his homeland of Gilneas in the wake of the Northgate Rebellion and the Scourge's attempts to breach the Greymane Wall. To this day he remains sheltered within the thick walls of the keep alongside his adopted lycantrophic 'children'.

All of these are part of the upcoming 'Ascension of the Lich King' bookmark, which begins in 6th of June, 605. Hopefully you have enjoyed the update!

Really looking forward to it!
Is it possible to make Sylvanas' portrait to change to her banshee queen version once she turns undead?
