While the base voice and the effects are what is expected with space marines i honestly think the modulation effects are a bit too loud compared to the base voice which tends to make it less understandable than it should.
It should be a matter of doing some adjustments, nothing serious since it seems to be on the right path to a perfect voice over.

No problem. Understandability with voice overs is a real pain in the *** in some cases. For example while working with British accents and similar things on the Praetorian Mod it is hard to get it understandable without making it too loud in comparison to the rest of the voices ingame, this despite the fact that the original recordings provided by thudo at revora are actually of good quality. The best way is to hear how it works ingame and do any required adjustments based on the test results.

GS - That can be sorted with .rat files on a last resort but getting the volume right is very easy in the initial recording. I'm kinda an expert there. Possibly.Probably. Maybe.

And of course Zmaj, any settings you need let me know. This particular one has a tiny bit too much echo (sounds too 'tinny' bring it down to 0.02 in the delay and perhaps push for 0.6) in the decay) and might need less pitch shift. If you need to then duplicate the track of the original and pitch shift that slightly down and reduce the volume to suit. Also we can sort out noise reduction within the recording stage.
As a first start it's bloody awesome!

Yeah i know about .rat files and that was what i have been messing around to see if i can get a good result but i might still have to do some adjustments on the actual files. The recordings were made years ago so i have no control over the input sound just on the output sound. After all i would likely never be capable of recording truthful british voice overs on my own :)

I'm a true Brit :P. But seriously, you're right. The input sound has to be perfectly 'dry'. I'd be interested to hear the originals of the Pretorian Mod actually.

The originals are here among other voice overs for races/regiments/armies:
Forums.revora.net

Direct download link
www.mediafire.com/download/eq7iiqvl2so43te/Imperial_Guard_Praetorians_Voices_1.1.rar

and the orignal scripts:
Forums.revora.net

Most of it was done before i joined the DoW modding community (I've been working on the Praetorians to try and rescue them from being unfinished since the original author had to leave it and all remained silent on the Praetorians until about a year ago when it resurfaced due to a thread necro) so i am not sure who did the initial scripts but the voices recorded are listed on the readme file of the package.

Second one Praetorians - yeah?

I think it's ace of you to take it on. It's a shame some mods die even when there's a market ready for them. Have Praetorians been done in literature/Black Library?

I see what you mean though - the voices are indeed fantastic but they have quite a bit of 'noise' or 'hiss' behind it. Quite hard to get rid of without making the original sound weak

Praetorians were born of GW related event where there was a display of the battle for Big Toof River ( Sodemons.com ).
There might be something on the literature but mostly short references to them, they were never one of the most important regiments. Most of the inspiration comes from the British warriors who fought the Zulus (the same inspiration that GW used) so pretty much British soldiers from that time frame "transported" to the 41st Millenium and given 40k wargear and background.

Not to sound too stereo-typically a Brit but I love it!
These voices are gold. Would you you mind if I had a go at mastering them? I should really look into more Imperial based stuff to be honest

Well if you can't help us in animation or texturing department you might be able to help us with audio at some point. If you're up to it, of course.

Thanks man, I would like to see something come out of this too. Lot of effort went into it. Tell me, in what areas can you assist. If it's audio exclusively, I could send you some voice records for adjustment. If you have some other skills, maybe we can agree on some other job for you.
There is no rush and no pressure.
Once again, thanks for the offer to help :)

Description

Now, for something new. Tragicvision and I talked in the last couple of days on adding new voice scripts to vanilla units and units that will be added to all races, but for Phase 1, it will be Space Marines, Tau and Tyranids. The voice used here is mine but, as you can notice, modulated inside parameters of vanilla Marine voice. This voice is not the final version, close to it, but it needs to be worked on a bit more, so take this into account. What I would like to hear from you is:
1. Does this sound like a Marine to you?
2. Would you assign this voice to some other unit in SM faction?
3. Your thoughts on introduction of new voices and lines for DOW races?

Your cooperation on this issue is really appreciated and your honest opinions are welcomed, as always.
