Game Mod Concept
Introduction

"Outlaws & Lawmen? is a first-person shooter for the PC that uses Half-Life 2 Source game engine, one of the most popular game engines around. Immerse yourself in the west. Players will choose a team and partake in action unlike ever seen before in western mods or games. Team based questing is the name of the game as players choose a weapon set and fight along side fellow players to prove who is indeed the wildest in the west. All this in a spaghetti western flavor, featuring such famous characters from the classics like "Man with no name"..."Angel Eyes, and Tuco..from the classic spaghetti western movies...and much more!

Background

"Outlaws & Lawmen? is an online multiplayer game modification for Half-Life 2 Source, Included with Half-Life 2 Source is an SDK that is bundled with the tools that will let game developers create new games out of Half-Life 2 Source. In this case, we're creating a Spaghetti Western themed multiplayer game for gamers who love to play westerns online with their friends.

Description

Highnoon, vultures high in the sky and no sign of townes people doing the early stroll. Dust winds and tumbleweed carrying lost souls. Coyote howling afar as a dying horse searches for water. Somewhere out there your enemy awaits your soul...you lit your cigar, take a puff and ready to stroll. Creaking doors and old wooden stairs is your guide and broken windows are your eyes. Pickup those saloon chairs and tables and open those doors....faint footsteps ahead in the dust heading your way and you must get ready to score. Who will it be? Your team or them? Boothill is right across that church.

Key Features

Media Updates & More

News

Howdy all, its been quite a long time since our last update but that doesn't mean we're dead or dying! Most of you know that we're quite a small team struggling here and that means longer waiting. On the other hand we do have new updates to show you. Namely new maps and some new weapons. Check out below for the media updates..

Some of you are wondering what kind of game play will our mod have, so here's what we have working at the moment...basicly, its zone capturing similiar to DOD in what teams need to capture specific territories. In this case lawmen need to capture outlaw territory and outlaws the other way around. For now we have the following maps with the following zone capture style.

- zone capture in no specific order: el paso and presidio maps
- zone capture in linear order (push): el dorado
- king of the hill: fort

Other game modes are in the planning, specificly "Escape"...more details on that later. As for our weapon system and scoring we have the following.

Howdy all, we have some sad news for all of you fans who have been keeping track of our progress. Our lead mapper R_Yell has decided to leave this project. We know some of you already know this, but today I write this official announcement to close this chapter. Though we tried both reaching a deal it came to conclusion that it was not the best interest of our project to proceed. Anyway, R_Yell has been with us over a year and has been doing exceptional work. He's quite talented in his level design skills that helped him lead the mapping team. His maps, Presido and El paso inspired some of the scenes of the great Spaghetti Westerns of all time. However, none of his work was left here with us to finish this project. He decided to take most of his work including some code work to pursue the creation of a new spaghetti western mod. For that reason there will be delays in the completion of this project. All of us here want to thank R_Yell for the good times we had here and for the help and guidance he has given to fellow mappers on the team. We wish you good luck and we will miss you!

On the bright side we have come to agreement with a merge with EastWest Mod (http://www.eastwestmod.com)...both of our projects will remain intact without any changes to our websites or forums. We still retain our project names and all we're doing is collaborating and bringing our work together to bring the spaghetti fans what they want. At the moment we are still welcoming team members to join us work on tbis project, particularly coding gurus who can dream like a Spaghetti gunslinger. If you want to help out please visit our forums and let us know!

has animated cut scenes, that's about it. The game has little to no humor if don't catch the little jokes in some cut scenes, you should find a copy and try it out

The comment about the funny sounds did not make much sense, but I assume it was in reference to Lucas Art's Outlaws, which I again assume was rather cartoonish and full of humour.

This mod is not a reinvisioning of that game, it just happens to use the term Outlaw (a popular label for 'Baddies' in the Western genre).
