Hey, firstly thanks for all the hard work! I found a bug and can't finish a quest due to that.
During the Metalhead Industries part of the quest "A Tangled Web", even though the guards 100% did not see me, when I hack the computer at the end to finish the quest there's a message from Mitnick (on the computer) that I blew the quest and he won't contact me again.
Now, in my quest journal however the quest is neither completed nor failed...
I've tried it out multiple times and there is just no way to successfully finish it. Is there maybe like a console command I can try to advance the questline?
I just tested this on my system and everything works out fine, in fact the quest fails the moment you are spotted there! Anyway, to set it to finished type this into the console: G.Shubs_Act = 3 and __main__.FindPlayer().SetQuest("Mitnick", 7)
Yes the quest fails once you are caught, what I meant is that despite not failing the quest according to the quest logs (as I was not caught), the computer at the end of the quest only shows the "failed" message.
I loaded up a save before I had even started the mission and tried it with "notarget" on and yet the computer still shows the fail message...
The console command you send worked though, so thank you!! :)
Can you please check in the console if G.Shubs_Botch is 0 when you start the map and when it turns 1?
I loaded up the save before entering the factory for the first time and G.Shubs_Botch is already 1, despite the quest not being marked as failed in the log. No wonder it kept giving me the fail message though...
I tried out a save from much earlier of his Questline and sped through it with notarget, until I got to the metalhead part again. This time G.Shubs_Botch stayed 0 and I could clear the quest.
I don't know what triggered it to go to 1 unfortunately...
I suspected something like this, but it seems it will stay a mystery.
Actually the console command
G.Shubs_Act = 3 and __main__.FindPlayer().SetQuest("Mitnick", 7)
did not work as intended for me. While it showed the quest as completed and would reward the exp., I would not receive any further emails from Mitnick.
What worked for me instead was entering the following console command BEFORE typing the schrecknet command on the Metalhead operations computer:
G.Shubs_Botch = 0
Most importantly though, thank you Werner for your great work through all these years. I've been playing this game for almost 20 years now and am still enjoying this thanks to you. You have made this game what it was supposed to be in the first place. That you are still patching and patiently helping out people with their problems almost two decades in is a testimony to both dedication and character.
It's my pleasure ;). About the hubs, yes, G.Shubs_Botch must be 0 and I suspect people somehow fail this before they even enter Metalhead or they stealth kill somebody, which also makes the quest fail.

Character history Tremere Con Man - got mixed up with Generalissimo I guess
Isaac - all instances of "fiend" should be capitalized to "Fiend"
Ming after Hallowbrook line 181 - naivete
Nines should have vampire purple aura when using Auspex, has white human/ghoul in Downtown intro cutscene and later in Griffith Park before conversation.
Also encountered a strange bug - when leaving Tremere Chantry in Cam endgame after visiting it as haven the door somehow got stuck while already fading to black, sound continued to loop but game did not start loading Downtown. Could not reproduce this effect, is this common?
Con Artist history: You are right, something had spilled over, it is fixed!
Fiend: Wikipedia doesn't think that fiend needs to be capitalized.
Naïveté: This was done on purpose to reflect her French pronouncation.
Nines aura: It's very hard to notice, but I will fix this anyway :)!
Chantry door: This looks like a rather uncommon random bug to me.
How do i stop my anti virus from attacking this patch?
That depends on your anti-virus, with Windows Defender you can just allow it.
Hi. I'm updating the patch after a long time. Is there any way to preserve my progress and shader presets or do we have to re-enable shader presets and start a new game with the patch update still?
You always need to start a new game after updating the patch, but shader presets probably don't need to be re-enabled.

im getting the same no vampire.exe file issue as some others that have posted, is there a work around? I understand its because of my antivirus flagging it as such but thats not really doing much to help me solve the problem.
You need to allow the exe in your antivirus software.
Hi I just like to report a run ruiner real quick.
In the “a tangled web” quest the victory state, will not activate and when you go to the terminal. It says you fail even if you were undetected.
Please check the console before you enter the Metalhead map to see if G.Shubs_Botch is already 1. Also killing an enemy will make the quest fail, even if it is done as a Stealth kill...
I'm having an issue with the Inquisitor campaign. When I start it, it just loads me as a Inquisitor in the default vampire campaign. Same opening cutscene, but I'm an inquisitor. Is there something else I need to install? I just used the default installation wizard
Quit the game and try again. You need to do that anyway to get all the graphics swapped...
i recently download the patch but still able to continue the old save, is it possible that i don't have to start a new save ? thanks alot
Sooner or later you will run into problems, depending on where you are inside the game, so it's better to start a new save now.

Hm, I probably started the patch with XP but I don't know if the installer is still XP compatibel. Just try it...

Why were these removed?
I removed the chants from the temple, as it doesn't seem reasonable that some monks are meditating while the others are fighting. Also only the Malkavian whispers were removed from the Ocean House, not the whispers of the ghost. Because why should all clans suddenly hear the Malkavian network voices there?

Just type "chareditor" into the console and continue from there. This is a known problem that can't be fixed otherwise...
Hi Wesp5. Good to see the patch still going strong (as someone who had minor contributions >15 years ago).
Have a tiny lazy bug report for the 11.4 basic version. In the Downtown warehouse, a certain murder scene, a scared bum. There are different dialog branches leading to the "what was his name" question to the bum. Depending on the dialog sequence taken, the option can lead to the "I have no valid reply" showstopper. I fumbled around and on the 3rd attempt with a different sequence this option didn't kill the dialog. Should be easy to reproduce, I think?
Can you be a bit more specific, because I can't find anything wrong with the name lines. Like what clan were you playing and what exactly was your last line befor the error?
Ventrue. The bug can be reproduced starting with 2 ("What did you see?"), 2 ("Yeah? What were they doing?"), 1 ("Which one made the phone call? Did you catch his name?"). After that he says the name and there's only the "I have no valid reply" option. I have a save file, if that matters.

I am seeing a bug on this that keep causing the game to shut down for me.
When I was in the temple basement facing off against the guards with the pyro crossbows, in the middle of gameplay the error message came up something like:
"plus_idolroom guards cannot be in squads, followers not run"
Now the game won't even load in the patch and just shuts down when I try to boot it up.
Sorry, but I have no idea. If the game doesn't even start something worse has happened and maybe the whole installation is corrupted.
Sorry, I didn't mean the whole game wouldn't boot up, but the save I did around that point.
Would it help for me to go to an earlier save game and get the exact error message?
If the save crashes the game it has been corrupted and you need to load an earlier save. Are you sure you didn't use an incompatible one?
What do you mean by "incompatible one"?
A save created by the unpatched game or an earlier version of the game is not compatible and will mess everything up.
I am not sure. Sounds like something I might have done. Ah well
Revert to the version you used before or start a new game.
Please How exactly do you install the patch if you are using the actual game disc and not steam or GOG? Every tutorial vid is for steam or GOG. So I have no idea where to put what or where to look.
Just run the installer and point it to the folder you installed the game into, like where vampire.exe is.

I have a question for you, if you don't mind? I was browsing the python scripts in the VTM folder and I would like to lower the requirement for G.Mill_Persuaded, that quest "Necromantic" quest. However, I do not know where to look for these variables.
If you could point me to the file having these pre-defined variables, would be great!

Persuasion conditions are not set in Python scripts, but in the dlg files themselves, which are normal text files. Just search in milligan.dlg for "Persuasion" and change to your liking!

Patch doesn't work. When I try to start a new game it just crashes.
Remove all your saves from earlier games and make sure the patch is running, like use the correct Steam launch options.
Actually, I had just installed the game. I don't know how I solved the problem, but I solved it somehow and i must say, you did a great job.
