Philosophy


DUNE 2000 is the first game I have ever played.

The feelings I had when playing it, that is the main pillar for my designing this mod:


Adding a new faction that could very well be in the original game


Adding a new faction with its campaign and cinematics that was the big dream.

But unfortunately, that is a dream, too difficult to achieve.


But yet a fully overhauled, playable new faction. That is possible, and that is the mission

Vermins of Dune 1.0.1

Hello, everyone! Vermins of Dune 1.0.1 is out! You can download it with this link:


This is a relatively small update.

First of all, it applies all the changes from the recent OpenRA Dune release.

Second.. Well before starting, I would like to briefly share my plans.

It is new content that gives a glimpse of the direction I am currently working on. That is the campaign - I want you to be able to enjoy it anew. Worry not, I am not abandoning skirmish. I just feel some changes are safer to experiment with in the campaign. And if you happen to like them, I might consider also adding them to the skirmish.

So.. The second feature that comes with this version is the first of the Culture Building series. This is the Atreides Monument. This building can be found in two missions during the campaign. Whoever owns it unlocks the ability to build grenadiers during that mission.

For the more experienced players the images below will hint at the specific missions you can find this new building in.

Thanks for the great update!
I have a questions:
-what will the new inquisitor unit be like?
-and why are there civilian people in the game?
Also I found a bug, there is no voice when click on engineer.

I see you have looked inside the codes ))

I am considering adding inquisitors as Sardaukar replacement for Harkonnen high-tech tier. One of the reasons is that I want to make Sardaukar unique to the Emperor faction. As for unit mechanics, I have an idea that I don't want to reveal too soon, as it might be something that sounds good on paper, but just won't be playable. If it turns out bad I can always replace his weapon with a flamethrower or something.

As for the civilians they don't have any function, they were just created for the campaign. I hope I will add a mission with them some day.

Just to be clear I am not currently planning to overhaul the Emperor faction as I did it with the Smugglers. I just want to make Sardaukars unique to the Emperor in the campaign. :-)

Sorry for the delay. I am currently waiting for the OpenRAModSDK update to support 20231010. Will release the new version after it is released.

I found a small text bug. The Scavengers faction information text in skirmish, it says they have a stealth raider bike as a unique unit. I believe it should be Shuttle.
