Vaygr Expansion is a mod which aims to stay true to the original Homeworld 2 game by merely expanding on what is already there and not adding any new major gameplay mechanics or 'tweaking' any of the existing units. The goal of this mod is to tell the story of Makaan, and his Vaygr, from his rise to Warlord, all the way to Battle for Sajuuk, and even after. This is just the first variant, a fuel tanker, the other two are for cargo and... Well; I might as well leave you guessing at something. ;)
I assume that the rectangular shape is just the hull, and not the actual fuel stores, right? Reaction mass for spaceflight is always stored in spheres for maximum protection, so I'd assume that there's lots of them inside the cargo-carrying sections.
Am I going in the right direction here...?

Looks a little like the progenitor mothership (or the bishop transports)
Inspiration was taken from the latter.
Well, dunno, I'm unsure. Looks... too simple and not really Vaygr, I'd say. Needs something else.
