A Fallout 3 and New Vegas mod that greatly improves the user interface without compromising the original style. Recommended by GOG.
Install with a mod manager such as FOMM. Overwrite any mod supported by the User Interface Organizer, including the Mod Configuration Menu, oHUD, Weapon Mod Menu etc. Use a patch (from the Addons tab) for conflicting mods that aren't supported by UIO. To uninstall, be sure that your last exit from the game was done normally from its menu instead of Alt-F4 or a crash.
If you have a non-English version of the game you must first delete the Textures\Fonts folder from the archive.
To install, use a mod manager such as FOMM and enable its Archive Invalidation function. In addition to installation options, you can control several aspects of the mod through its settings.xml file at the Data\Menus\Prefabs\VUI+ folder.
VUI+ must be installed after, and overwrite, any mod supported by the User Interface Organizer. That includes the MCM, oHUD, PN, WMM etc. UIO should obviously be installed as well.
Conflicting mods that cannot be supported by UIO must be installed with a patch from the Addons tab. VUI+ should lose any conflicts over texture (dds) files.
To uninstall VUI+, first make sure you exit the game from its menu instead of force closing via Alt-F4 or a crash. If you had missed this detail and you’re getting warnings in the game menus, you’ll need to reinstall any mod that writes in your Menus folder: In FOMM you should simply disable those mods and enable them again, but in Mod Organizer this has to be done via right click and “Reinstall”.
Please include a screenshot of the problem and a link to an archive of your Data\Menus folder. This folder doesn’t contain personal data and you can use an ephemeral upload service such as Expirebox.
To access this folder in Mod Organizer, you’ll need to use 7zip: Click on the Executable menu, select Edit, set a Title, set Binary to C:\Program Files\7-Zip\7zFM.exe, leave Start In empty, and set Arguments to the game’s Data path. Running 7zip by this command will allow it to see what your game sees, so you can now compress your Data\Menus folder and upload it.
