Valandil is back with a new direction and fresh ideas set within a rich medieval fantasy world.

Over the coming weeks we will be releasing information on our game systems including combat, class & skills and gamemodes as well as media including concept art and music downloads.

For now here's a little rundown of some of Valandil's new features:

  • Advanced Melee Combat - A combat system unlike anything you've seen before
  • Custom Classes - An in-depth custom class and skill system
  • Fantasy Setting - You won't be seeing any fireball hurling wizards or dragons though
  • Co-Op Gamemode - RPG party-style based gameplay

Stay tuned for regular updates coming soon!

It's Valandil coming back, independently of Realms of Valhallon.

Is this the Valandil mod that's back or the merging of the two mods. Care to explain?

I don't plan on explaining the entirety of what is a long and complicated story.

The last time I looked at the website for Realms of Valhalla it seemed from the content of the website like nothing had been done.

Let me first say that this is not the case, and that a lot of the work that our team did for RoV has been brought with us to Valandil. You have to understand that RoV was a privately established project with a hardworking team behind it, juding a book by it's cover like that isn't a wise idea.

I (Bill Lowe) will be taking up the role of Project Lead once again, with Pål Trefall as my co-lead. We have with us a team of over 15 developers and we will be expanding in the future.

In regards to original Valandil content, since a fair portion of the team went to AoC and only a few came to RoV, the amount of that content we have to use is very little. However due to the shift in Valandil's direction this isn't a huge loss, a couple of old Valandil team members may also be joining us again.

The website and forums are still under reconstruction, more detailed information on the changes with the project will be released soon.

With regards to your last question; People are free to feel skeptical about all these changes, if you think this is just a feeble attempt at a comeback, well we're ready to prove you wrong.

Oh and this isn't front page because we wanted to keep it somewhat quiet until the site and forums are all finished. So instead of the thousands of people the news would reach if started to spread around the community websites, it's reached the 270 people we have watching our ModDB profile.

Why did you split with that other mod and how many team members stayed with the other mod or went back to Valandil?

Either way it looks like that other project is pretty screwed.

The last time I looked at the website for Realms of Valhalla it seemed from the content of the website like nothing had been done. It could have been that in fact the team was so busy they didn't have time to update the website, but I think pure speculation is pretty fruitless either way. I don't think it really matters whether you expand on 'artistic differences' as a reason for your split from RoV, there are more important questions to be answered.

Here's a list of the questions I'd imagine the followers of this Mod will want to ask:

- Is there a change of Artistic Direction/Project Lead from the Valandil Dev Team we saw before the merger?
- Has the concept changed from what we would have originally seen before the merger with RoV?
- How many of the original team are back? In which departments?
- Are you going to be recruiting new talent for Valandil? In which departments?
- How many of the original assets have remained for Valandil? Have some of them been incorporated into RoV instead?
- When can we see the content of the Valandil site restored?

- Is there anything you might have to say to fans who might be at all skeptical about sticking with a Mod which has shifted direction in the past? How can these fans be sure that Valandil is back for good?

I hope you still have those gorgeous maps from previous Valandil media releases, or failing that I hope thay've gone to a good home.

Age of Chivalry is looking impressive, but I think Valandil has the potential to surpass it (no mean feat). GL guys and looking forward to seeing Valandil recharting those dizzy heights once more.
