UT40K: The Chosen Although 40K players and other Mod Teams may not have herd about us, we have in fact been going on, for quite a while. The fact that a ModDB page was never set up for us has only just been brought to light. We are a small but dedicated team, devoted to bringing the universe of Games Workshops Warhammer 40,000 to it's full glory, using the UT3 engine. While we have been toiling in the shadows, we have actually managed to release a Number of Public Betas over the last year and improve on them with each upgrade. We are devoted to remaining as close to the publish code rules as we possibly can, to the point where we have implemented both the JAM system, for the Terminator Assault Cannon, and a fully functional vehicle damage system, complete with Front, Side and Rear armour values and features all of the ways of disabling a vehicle (e.g. Crew Stunned, Weapon Destroyed, Immobilised and all the others) We have two mostly functional races available; The Imperium's...

UT40K: The Chosen Wishing You all a Merry Christmas and giving out gifts to our fans.

Posted by on

To start off with, I'd like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas, from myself and the rest of the Dev Team. And we also wish you, and ourselves, a very productive and happy New Year!

I'll start with giving our gift to you, we have now finalised and released our Beta 7 version of the Mod, which included a number of fixes for problems and log entries, thanks to our new coder Silari, who has taken over from Silent Bob and also relieved Geodav, our master of all arts of a very heavy workload. As ever the newest version can be found via a link on our forums (and again, you must be registered to see the relevent forum section).

Our second peice of news is that we have now terminated work on the UT2k4 version of the mod, we have now moved onwards and upwards to the Unreal Tournament 3engine, where we hope to make use of all of the new graphics techniques to really bring the Warhammer 40,000 Universe to life.

We've also recruited a couple of new members, aside from Silari. These are Yianna and BustR. They've been helping us out with some modelling and various other bits and pieces. Another person who has been giving us a hand has been mycatfield. mycatfield came to us over a month ago with congratulations and also said that he was working on a Space Marine model that he may consider allowing us to use. A few weeks ago he posted his progress on his in-game model:

mycatfiled has since begun work on his High-Res version of his Space Marine model, so that he may generate Normal Maps, to truly bring the Warrior-Monks to life.

That's all for now, if you know a talented Modeller, Skinner, Coder, or jack-of-all trades with some spare time, be sure to direct him to us and visit the forums to keep up to date with the latest news and miscellaneous goings on.

PS: To prove I'm not lying, Our own Space Marine Model, after being ported into UT3. Quality ain't great, but UT3 is one hell of demanding game.
