and a much needed upgrade to its interface and usability.

The mod is now GOLD! That means that all content is done and the game is as stable as it can (or as I could make it, heh). The post-launch updates will be rarer now, but I hope that I'll come back to it and do the localization tools/features. Thanks a lot!

After 2 years of work, UplinkOS has reached its final, Gold version! First of all, I’d like to thank everyone who reported bugs and suggestions, I couldn’t have done this without your help!
To mark the occasion, I’ve also put together a kind-of-a-launch trailer. Enjoy!

(may work on the Humble & CD version too)Now, this doesn’t actually mean the game is done, no game is ever done, but at least I’ve reached a version that’s as stable and as polished as I could make it. If you’ve also been keeping up with the forum, you’d notice that there are still a few features left on the to-do list along with some annoying bugs, but I have to (at least for now) hit pause on the project. This is mainly because of the lack of time and motivation, and the want to start working on something new.
I’m mostly disappointed I didn’t get to implement the localization tools/feature. This is because of the amount of time that is actually needed to do it - all texts in the game need to be externalized from the source code, which is a complete pain in the butt. I’m hopeful that I’ll get back to it in a few months or so, though.
In the coming weeks I’ll also release the Photoshop export script that I used while creating the mod and the UI resource files, and write some tutorials to help people customize the interface to their liking. I’ll also hover around ModDB and the forums, just in case something game-breaking pops-up which I’ll have to fix.

Just because of this interface mod. looks fantastic on 42" at 1920x1080.
It will be an interesting title to play, it seems to be in depth to the time period it was created in.

This is incredible. Kudos to the team that made this, you just turned an horribly dated game into what looks like a modern game. Really looking forward to start dumping hours into it
Is there a way to disable the annoying vibration sound that plays when i click on something ?
I found a solution, just delete mouseclick.wav and mouseover.wav on uplinkHD/sounds.
Excellent job! Unfortunately, the dev has suspended the development of this mod and left some last things "to be done soon"...
I am new to moddb.com, and i do not know much how to navigate here, so i would like to know if there is any developer log or commentaries about how did he progress to reach this GOLD state of this mod.
After some time enjoying this mod, maybe i could learn something and possibly start the development of a Platinum version, hehe, as a thank you tribute to Cpt.McBacon!
Looks amazing, but still doesn't fix my main issue with Uplink, which it relies too heavily on the mouse and GUI. I think hacking games like this ideally provide 2 things:
1. A fun hacking experience
2. Usable UNIX / BASH concepts
Haven't seen any games pull this off yet, Hacknet got close, but was missing a bunch of basic commands you normally see in bash. There's also that realistic one Nite Team 4, but it also way over-funded their UX team who put way too much work into the GUI and not enough into the terminals.
hi, friends i star the uplinkOS but strange error OF ALL program it self occured when finish test mission and send test data. i try ti erase test file from file manager because is 6gb to save space but error window appear when deleting was 99%. i make a screen shot but have not where to post it
