Hi. I've been playing Dawn of War mods, including this one, for years (I used to be a tester for Dawn of War Expanded before that folded) and my Soulstorm folder is kind of a hash as a result. I've been having trouble playing Imperial Guard vs Orks 3v3 with the game suddenly crashing to desktop, usually when I issue a move command or use the long range scan to reveal Kommandos.

Several years ago I installed a 4 GB patch for Soulstorm (file entitled 4gb_patch.exe, dated 11/12/2011) to get around that. I understand that's not the current method, but does the LAA patch do the job better, or am I just hitting the limits of the game engine? If it does and could fix the problem I'm having in a way that the old patch doesn't, can I run LAA over it, or do I need to wipe and do a fresh installation since my Soulstorm executable is directly modified? If it matters, I'm working from the old CDs, not the Steam version. Thanks for any advice.

Edit 4/8/2020, 1:49pm EDT:

And I just had a crash to desktop playing 1v1 vs Chaos Marines as Space Marines on Deadman's Crossing while teching up to tier 2. The trigger was telling my Assault Marines with attached jump pack Captain to jump at the Cultists taking the critical location.

I was reading through the comments on the LAA patch download page and someone in there said to also run it on the GraphicsConfig executable, so I tried it and all my crashes went away.
