Tre - The Spreading is developed by two young guys who love the UnrealEditor and want to create a exciting First-Person-Shooter without any zombies, but some aliens and angry animals. A shot overview of the beginnig of the story: You're sitting in your armchair. Suddenly begins your radio to noise. Your TV is also dead and you're wondering what is happening right now. After taking your flashlight and shotgun you want to go to the next village and find out what is going on...though some unidentified flying object cross your way and spread green fog all over the earth. At first only the animals go crazy and attack you, but they're not your biggest problem at all...
Because in UT3 is only a very limited number of different trees my coder [WuTz]! has created a script for UT3 which enables you to create your own trees! You can import a tree as SkeletalMesh and at each bone spawn a single leaf sprite, which is attached to the bone, so you can animate your tree with a normal animation.
It is very easy to create a WTree, at first you need a SkeletalMesh which branches are marked with bones:
Then you must open the WTreeScript in the ActorClassBrowser and add the WTree Actor into your map:
Now you should change some propertis of the actor:
Bone Offset: Here you can translate the offset of a leaf of one bone
Leaf Free Bones: Here you can inside the names of the bones where should be no leafs (e.g. the bones in the stem)
Leaf types: That's the most important option. Here you can assign the leaftype texture (texture! no material!), the size and offset of the leaftype leafs. You can use as many leaf types as you want, they will arranged randomly at all bones.
Tree Mesh: Here you can assign a mesh under Skeletal Mesh Component and allocate an animation set and an animation.
if you use my script please mention me in the readme of your map/mod!!!
