Total Chaos is a total conversion mod for Doom 2 that runs on the GZDoom source port. The mod is a survival horror set on a remote island known as Fort Oasis. The island was once run by a community of coal miners which one day suddenly disappeared, leaving behind the abandoned concrete jungle to waste away. Something, clearly, has gone very wrong with this place. Upon your arrival at Fort Oasis, you receive a strange radio transmission. Someone wants to be found.
Nice
Was searching for another horror themed FPS, stumbled upon this, and DAMN BRO blew away my expectations right away.
It's so well made it doesn't look like a mod but a game on its own. Its also a solid Survival horror so that's always a plus for me.
If you're into dark themed games, nerve-wracking tension, feeling of hopelessness which eventually turns into badass action(if you're good enough) then seriously, just give it a shot, it won't dissapoint.
It honestly left me wanting for more so i gave it another playthrough just to get the good ending. Can't wait to play the NG+ feature on TC:DC!
As of now, I have been only able to play 2 chapters due to some weird bugs(?) preventing me to play the rest game. But those 2 chapters were spooky and enjoyable.
Transforms DOOM 2 into something else entirely. The gold standard for mods.
It's like a first person silent hill game and it's completely free and standalone. Anything less than a perfect rating is unfitting. Excellent desolating atmosphere, creepy enemies and a location that's downright mystifying. It's worth your time, and if it was priced I'd say it was worth your money too.
I just love how this mod is constructed and it was from the start a good example of how to use the modern cappabilities of the GZDoom Engine without relying on cheap visual effects to try to mask a crappy mod.
It's a great evidence of the difference between horror movies and psychological thrillers. All this decayed urban landscape with its Clostophovic feeling, the subtle puzzles, is really amazing what a lack of enemy numbers can add to a games atmosphere. It is not doom and dont expect the same fun and mayhem, it is a game of it's own.
This mod is amazing. It has done something, that nothing else could have done: a great combination of a great games.
Great atmoshpere,
Need some work on difficulty, controls and UI.
I respect the effort, but I'd rather play Amnesia which I feel this game borrowed a lot from. Too many small glitches in the first 30 minutes kept me from caring too much to continue. Mind you, my time is limited, so you have to impress me early on with something cool, interesting, or new or a combo of all three.
