Total Chaos is a total conversion mod for Doom 2 that runs on the GZDoom source port. The mod is a survival horror set on a remote island known as Fort Oasis. The island was once run by a community of coal miners which one day suddenly disappeared, leaving behind the abandoned concrete jungle to waste away.
Something, clearly, has gone very wrong with this place. Upon your arrival at Fort Oasis, you receive a strange radio transmission. Someone wants to be found. Survive in 6 chapters, against over 8 horrifying fiends with a large assortment of weapons. The mod with the assistance of the source ports introduces many new graphical features, including 3D models and high resolution textures.

Something, clearly, has gone very wrong with this place. Upon your arrival at Fort Oasis, you receive a strange radio transmission. Someone wants to he found. The further you travel into the concrete jungle, the more the situation ends up unraveling, and where you were heading is no longer clear. Find letters scattered around the world and uncover the mystery of what happened.

Explore the island of Fort Oasis in 6 chapters. In these chapters you will fight through apartments, utility tunnels, shopping centers, before reaching the city center and the mines that await you.
In every chapter, you will encounter new and even more horrifying creations. Each one processing their own unique attack patterns. Learning these is vital to surviving the oncoming onslaught.
Use anything you can find on the island to fight against the forces of evil. There are guns, but ammo for them is incredibly hard to come by. You will mostly be relying on tireirons, pickaxes, shivs and garden tools. Most of these can be crafted and some can be upgraded to wield more powerful blows.
The mod with the assistance of the source ports introduces many new graphical features, including 3D models and high resolution textures.
Today I'm revealing some stuff a friend and I have been working on in sort of secret for the last couple of years. A remaster of Total Chaos is indeed in the works, and is using the Unreal Engine 5.
Here is how it is shaping up!

No announcements for release dates at this time (still a couple years away), however the game will be dropping as its own standalone package.

If you have a modern AMD GPU, on the latest drivers, this game, unfortunately for some reason stopped working the only way to make it work again, is to manually update the game to the lasted GZDoom engine, with the experimental vulkan render.
Is not very hard to do that, is just a matter of copy pasting files and overwriting older ones but you need to know what files is the engine and what files are the game, the easy way to know that, is to download the new GZDoom engine, look at the engine folder and compare it to the game folder, if files and folders have the same name then they most be the engine files.
Btw the latest engine, may have extra files/folders that the older one didn't have and those need to be copied also.
damn i have like, no idea how id even do that. Guess ill have to figure it out
is there any way to force multiplayer, any mod or method anyone has gotten to work?
Might be possible because GZDoom has an obscure netplay feature, but it probably would just not work or would be incredibly janky since the players have no playermodel or a sprite to begin with.
I don't think so, afaik this game has no multiplayer support but the engine and game assets are open source, so someone that knows c++ coding and maybe some Quake 3 modding can modified it. Btw Quake 3 because, this game uses some of the Quake 3 engine assets (md3 files), but I don't know, if working in it is exactly like working with Quake 3 engine (idTech 3).
honestly that would be pretty cool
having to survive with your friends, sharing items together
Zikshadow did make a mod that adds the monsters and items in the vanilla and modded levels which was cool
wadaholic, so I finished NG+, and I hope that when you make Total Chaos: Ultimate Edition for Steam/other game stores' commercial release (many fans of your work will buy it, I'm sure), you will replace the NG+ final hunter duel maze with a mine maze with some instances of another new item: Large Remote Explosive and several locations where you can place and detonate them to collapse the mine tunnel, which will kill the Hunter with the avalanche when he's in those locations. Pretty logical as no conventional weapons can do that throughout the whole game. Also, if the Hunter gets killed with the avalanche, the tunnel wall in the tunnel collapse location where the Hunter was killed should break to reveal another parallel tunnel, open and lit from the outside (light at the end of the tunnel, the game ends with a good ending when you walk towards that).
GREAT WORK, PROBABLY THE GREATEST ON GZDOOM ENGINE EVER!
