This modification offers an alternative gameplay to Tiberian Wars involving many Tiberian Sun units which many CnC fans (like me) missing in vanilla CNC3 and add even new my made units which you can't find anywhere else. Story is quite the same like Tiberian Wars, but is all about what if GDI and Nod do not abandon technologies they have used in Tiberian Sun era and instead of that further developed them. But it's not only that, there are many visual, sound and balance changes which I want to see and hear in my mod, new sounds, new music, new effects (like blood and gore, new infantry deaths, new more realistic missile trails) and many more.

Post tutorial Report RSS [TW] Add sky in your favorite map

With this quick tutorial, your will learn how to add a dome of sky in your map, as well as compile it to "load" more fast...

Posted by on - Intermediate Mapping/Technical

To add sky to your personal maps, you must MERGE one CNC NE FULL VERSION interface (YPSILON_1.0.big, OMEGA_1.0.big or DELTA_1.0.big) with Worldbuilder.

In a similar way to as it adds the mod of textures in this tutorial: Moddb.com

Within the worldbuilder:

1 - Open the map and place it in the middle one Skydome:

These Skydomes found under:
"ByNativeType/Civilian/None" and "REGION/Neutral/MISC_Natural"
OR
"ByNativeType/ForMappers"

2- Then edit the properties of the map, as follows

Min Height: Range between 70 and 300
Max Height : Range between 1200 and 1700 ( Or as you think best, your being free to choose ;) )

* the color of fog will be seen on the horizon and at altitude. if you think it looks ugly, remove it. your test and decide...

3- Save the map and performs one test in-game, Running one CNC NE FULL VERSION interface (YPSILON_1.0.big, OMEGA_1.0.big or DELTA_1.0.big) alone or with another mod :)

ADDITIONAL
4- Then Compile your map with "BuildMap.bat":
Compile the map has two main advantages: the loading time is shorter and disappear those ugly shadows to rotate the camera.

NEED MOD SKD: Commandandconquer.com

INSTRUCTIONS
IN WINDOWS 7 THE MAPS ARE STORED IN THE FOLDER:
C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars\Maps\

THEN
-(Opens a window of CMD commands in your "MOD SDK" folder, but instead of entering "BuildMod.bat NameOfTheMod", you should put "BuildMap.bat NameOfThefolderOftheMap").

"BuildMap.bat" must run in a command window... for example if your map name is "Dangerous_Neighborhood", the CMD window should look like this:

https://media.moddb.com/images/articles/1/97/96064/auto/Zp5oLRl.jpg

press enter, the compiler started to compile your map and created 3 new files:
map.imp, map.relo and map.bin

here a tutorial on how to open CMD easy on windows 7:
Sevenforums.com
I recommend option two :D

Ready!
your map will have OMEGACAM and will be compiled.
Now you can share it with everyone

So there is another way to add maps with the zooming and sky effects without the need of the source code package.

No, Just to add the Skydome... you still need a mod with the correct shellmap and camera configuration ( Like the NE CNC3)... Do you remember? :)

Unfortunately if... But you can use the SkyDomes of:

ByNativeType/Civilian/None
AND
REGION/Neutral/MISC_Natural

These SkyDomes will see in any MOD ( When also using the "Compatibility Core" Moddb.com ) In conjunction with your favorite MOD ;)

Where did people share their omegacam maps with everyone please? I would sure like some more like the official maps for instance, without duplicating the work of someone else (surely someone has done them) if possible.
