This modification offers an alternative gameplay to Tiberian Wars involving many Tiberian Sun units which many CnC fans (like me) missing in vanilla CNC3 and add even new my made units which you can't find anywhere else. Story is quite the same like Tiberian Wars, but is all about what if GDI and Nod do not abandon technologies they have used in Tiberian Sun era and instead of that further developed them. But it's not only that, there are many visual, sound and balance changes which I want to see and hear in my mod, new sounds, new music, new effects (like blood and gore, new infantry deaths, new more realistic missile trails) and many more.

I was expecting a repurposed Nod Apache from TibDawn, but this works too. :)

Why not both? Have the Apache fill the Venom/Orca role while this one serves as more of a siege weapon. Seems like the mutants would have more helis than fighters anyways.

I think Carnius wants to keep the Forgotten mostly grounded and limit their number of available air units. The Floater was going to be their only air unit, but people's response to that apparently made him create this Hind.

Looks good, but Hind is too old and low-tech. Forgotten deserve a Harpy from TS armed with missiles. :p

That and a remote suicide drone like they have in The Forgotten mod

Yes, indeed. The unit is surely much better than Floater (more appropriate, good look, etc.) but I guess there are some things to "fix". The "Tiberium missiles" upgrade is "Noddish" (even if it's blue), so something else should be used. Hind is surely an excellent tank destroyer and is a sturdy helicopter, but it's slow, so it isn't the best choice as a transport.

And yes. Harpy for forgotten as early AP air units is a great solution.

But comrade, Hind is not slow IRL.

Hind is retarded OP is the problem, hence games make 'em slow. xD

Yes, if you talk about realism, Hind can transport troopers and is relatively fast, that's for sure.

Speaking about balance and gameplay, if it's fast, then it would be nearly unstoppable, since it can carry infantry, and it's effective against all ground targets.

I have a "realistic" solution to replace the already used Tiberium Missiles. The KEM Missiles.
En.wikipedia.org

They are developed for low altidude air units and they are designed to destroy armored vehicles. They seem perfect for this unit (and other AT ground units too).

while its true that tiberium Missiles are a "Noddish" technology i think it still fits the forgotten well because it makes sense that they are using some looted and salvaged tech (from whoever).

I think its a much more fitting choice than the floater as a transport, having said this maybe something like weaponless garrisonable chinnook that enables units to fire from within would be an even better solution.
I think The Harpy will always belong with nod but chinook could fill the void for early airborne AP if it was cheap enough to build.

tbh i'm not sure forgotten needs something to fulfill a "harpy-like" role, we'll have to see how they play as a mainly ground based faction when 2.0 comes out.

Ok, but variety is compromised if the99% of their upgrades is Tiberium. Soemthing new is required to keep the variety and difference between sides. This is my humble opinion.

An AA/AP air unit is needed (Chinook is too much big and slow for this role). I've found a nice concept around the web for a Forgotten Harpy (a mix between old Orca and the Harpy), and this suits well for this faction.

Floater cannot be considered as a regular unit. It's a brainless jellyfish. It makes no sense to me.

The karma thing is why i always prefered to use threads rather than comments, problem is i seem to be the only person that thinks that way. Think it makes it easier to find stuff too but seems ppl just use comments these days.

Not saying that 99% of Forgotten upgrades should be tiberium, just saying that it makes sense for them to use some tiberium missiles given their established canon.

Perhaps the Hind should use Tib missiles but only be able to upgrade the auto-cannon as the missiles are "acquired" tech. (the alternative of course is to have an upgrade that is massively divergent from the NOD one, showing that they can do different things with the same tech)

I agree the name of an Orca-Harpy combo unit is unimportant, was merely pointing out that its been mentioned before - for the benefit of those that may not have been on the boards as long as you and me. I think it would be an interesting light air unit for AP.

In other worlds you mean the Hind stars only with auto-cannon, and then it acquires the missiles. Correct me if I am wrong.

If you want, I can start a thread about the Forgotten side (with concept pictures). In these years I've discussed with another member. The side is complete, with all units, structures, abilities and upgrades and can be updated easily.

Like just the other Factions the Forgotten airforce must be balanced and complete, with (at least) 2 combat units.

no i mean it starts with both auto-cannon and missiles, but missiles cant be upgraded (because they are stolen NOD tech). instead auto-cannon would be the upgradable tech.

Carnius envisioned them more as land based faction but i think he's said theres gonna be (possibly) 3 air units for Forgotten

Actually, the RA1 universe is the precursor to the Tiberium universe. A salvaged Soviet Heavy tank would fit, but I think that by now, old RA1 (wich is WW2 in the Tibverse) is way to outdated. I think the Forgotten should have TibDawn and TibSun salvaged gear.

Indeed a RA1 heavy tank in Tib Essence would be totally obsolete in Tiberian Sun and afterwards, kinda like using a Sherman tank or early model Panzer in a war today.

But they already use buildings form RA. And soviet heavy tanks(based on t-80) are't older then heavy tanks base on abrams tank or already introduced hinds, which we can see in RA.

RA takes place in the 1950's though, so although they look like T-80's they're probably more comparable to IS-3's or T-55's in terms of abilities. Also buildings are much more timeless than weapon designs so that's not really the same thing. Tents and brick buildings have been used for centuries and can't really become "obsolete", but tanks and other weapons can become obsolete very quickly as technology advances, and it's a pretty safe bet that almost anything from RA1 (tanks, aircraft, and certainly electronics) would be totally inadequate against the weapon systems of 2047 (almost 100 years difference!). Like I said, kinda like trying to use a Sherman or Panzer III against an M1A2 Abrams or Leopard 2.

Also I support the Forgotten using Hinds and other old stuff BTW; While totally inadequate against modern forces, old obsolete stuff would still be viable against personnel or in a transportation role. Heck, even riding around in a 100 year-old vehicle that's kept in good working order is a lot better than walking everywhere. :V

I don't how soviet forces could obtain double barreled t80U, but that's it. Information frome eva data base: Cnc.wikia.com(Red_Alert_1)
It's strange for me too. But they used exactly this tank. And Alied forces used their medium tank from future. And in addition for this. Hinds were used in WW2(How?) too together with heavy tank. It means, that in RA univers this tank and helicopter are coevals(another question how they appeared in past). And this helicopter now uses in this mod.

Basically what happened is that in the C&C timeline, certain areas of technology advanced faster than in our timeline, resulting in some things being invented earlier than they "should" have been, or at least having an outward resemblance to those things. Case in point, the Hind helicopter (or at least, the airframe design) being invented in the early 1950's instead of the 1970's - 1980's as the real Hind was. Of course, this doesn't mean that it's exactly the same as the Hind in real life; For example, the avionics, materials, etc. could be more primitive due to being invented earlier. Same goes with tanks and other technologies; Different timeline resulting in some things being invented earlier (or later in some cases), but at the same time probably having subtle differences in design or capabilities, or possibly even being designed by a completely different person/company; For example, the medium and heavy tanks might only have WWII-era steel armour instead of the composite armour their real-life counterparts have, or the M16 rifle possibly being invented in a different country, etc. This can also apply to any out-of-place technologies in RA.
