This modification offers an alternative gameplay to Tiberian Wars involving many Tiberian Sun units which many CnC fans (like me) missing in vanilla CNC3 and add even new my made units which you can't find anywhere else. Story is quite the same like Tiberian Wars, but is all about what if GDI and Nod do not abandon technologies they have used in Tiberian Sun era and instead of that further developed them. But it's not only that, there are many visual, sound and balance changes which I want to see and hear in my mod, new sounds, new music, new effects (like blood and gore, new infantry deaths, new more realistic missile trails) and many more.
There has been many discussion about new harpy and most people still believe that chopper with blades is not advanced enough to be called nod technology of peace. So here is alternative advanced VTOL model for harpy (or venom) - version 2 versus old style version 1. Say what you think is best and that version will be in next mod version 1.52

Hey now, turbines (and turbofans) aren't all that, just so y'know. There's differences, to be sure, but here's a bit of interest for you...
To take down a helicopter, using traditional 2+ bladed main rotor, and 2+ bladed tail rotor, one needs to simply apply suitable gunfire to the blades to the point they shatter, thus rendering the VTOL in question off-balance, and downed in short order.
To down a turbine aircraft, however, calls for as little as a cloud of dust. The dust, pulled in by the immense suction afforded a multi-thousand horsepower turbine, is easily converted to slag glass by the immense temperatures within a turbine engine, this slag then sticks to many intricate, and crucial, components, causing a catastrophic pyramid failure throughout the entire system, usually of sufficient capacity to cause the engine(s) in question to simply stall out, or worse, detonate. Either way, the aircraft is rendered destroyed, if not heavily damaged, in short order. Barring available dust, one could simply throw a couple rocks into the turbine to achieve a cruder, but no less effective, end result as the turbine blades would either break, or be bent out of true.
The issue with the dust could perhaps be circumvented through a filtration system, through the filter would of course itself be rather vulnerable, not to mention that this would severely impact the performance of the turbine given that it hampers air intake quite a lot. Still, worth considering. I'm sure the clever and fanatically driven minds of Nod's scientists can come up with something along those lines or something better still to protect the fragile and vulnerable turbine.
There is such a thing as filters.
But beyond that anEM field to deflect particulate matter could be designed.
It IS Future Tech after all.
Hell for all we know it could be an Ionocraft or use Repulsor Tech or Contra Grav.....
Sure it LOOKS like a Rotorfan but that could just be a resemblance.

Interesting take on the new Venom Model, but I also like the older harpy model as well...
I say a good compromise is to use the new Venom as the main aircraft and have the older Harpy either make its way as a Mutant Aircraft or as a World Builder Exclusive unit.
Unused model will be in World Builder as you say, maybe even crate unit if possible.

Personally, would go for version 1. But then, I see the ideas regarding using V1 as either a crate or mutie unit... so hard to choose.
I like version 1 to be honest like to think that GDI still stays on top with VTOL technology while Nod relies on propellers

I'd honestly prefer the first with the second being some sort of special craft in some way. But if that's not possible, I guess 2 makes a tad bit more sense by now.

Interesting, but i proposed that idea as a way of PRESERVING the Harpy as it is for NOD, NOT as a way of taking it from them.
Both look great! I like that Nod is versatile with both conventional tech and their more advanced tech, so it's hard for me to pick between the two, honestly.
Guys, what do you think about an upgrade at Nod's Air Tower that upgrades the Harpy with rotor (version 1) to VTOL (version 2)?? This upgrade can make it move faster and other ideas for another worthwhile benefit. This way we can get both models! :D

You are right. Version 2 do look more advanced. But i personally like V1 aswell. V2 look cool but looks more futuristic. That's why i suggest V2 should be an upgrade to V1 (improved stats etc) like it becomes this primary basic fighter for Nod (Later on its Banshee the ultimate fighter, and harpy/venom the cheap alternative)

But then Carnius would have to retexture to forgotten style... i prefer both be available for NOD ... V1 upgrades into V2 (upgrade at air tower)

like i commented earlier..make it an individual upgrade..therefore everybody is happy...V2:Less Armor and firepower but it is faster...V1:more armor and firepower but it is not as fast as V2..makes it balanced...also makes you choose between hit and run or staying power...it also fits nod style of units built for specifics things vs GDI's "one size fits all" military units.

I like the old one more (yes I like the rotor version, GDI has VTOL), but I support the idea of V1 being upgraded to V2 via the Technology Centre!

I am doubtful about a possible upgrade. After all it's quite fast and agile as it's now. And, an upgrade for only 1 unit doesn't sound all that exciting in my opinion...

Version one. I do agree the tech behind the blade is old by the year Tiberian Sun is set in, So visual wise the second one is better. But im too much of a fan of the original TS stuff to wanna see the helicopter blade remove.
Maybe the removal of the blade can be a upgrade for somthing speed related?
verson 1 is more slim, just remove the helicopter wings.
They're both cool but I prefer version 1, rotors are just cool.
