This modification offers an alternative gameplay to Tiberian Wars involving many Tiberian Sun units which many CnC fans (like me) missing in vanilla CNC3 and add even new my made units which you can't find anywhere else. Story is quite the same like Tiberian Wars, but is all about what if GDI and Nod do not abandon technologies they have used in Tiberian Sun era and instead of that further developed them. But it's not only that, there are many visual, sound and balance changes which I want to see and hear in my mod, new sounds, new music, new effects (like blood and gore, new infantry deaths, new more realistic missile trails) and many more.
It looks like limpet drone but its something quite different. Its replacemt for fanatics which means its suicidal bomber drone. Most people agreed that fanatics was a bit strange unit to say at least. So here is alternative some people sugested. Part old tech from tib sun, part new idea that came from you on forums. Say what you think.
uh? Limpet drone?
Limpet mine more like
Sort of, i just uploded description to explain it.
And there was much rejoicing. This should be a fun little toy.
Squads of three or singles?
That is not decided yet, it depends on test results that is not yet finished, so its gonna be surprise :)
does it hover around untill you "arm/deploy" it or is it self-deploying while stationary? Does it even need to deploy to blow up?
so... its a baneling?
cloak=burrow
anti-infantry unit
explodes
But I still like it.
Btw when can i play with?
Or the old fashioned spider mine. :p
LOOKS GREAT!
Finally an original and decent alternative for the Fanatics, keep the good job!
I'd say stick with squads of whatever number, that would be the easiest way to put them in.
Wow, you worked very quickly with this - and this new drone looks great! I'm happy to see that the Fanatics will be replaced :D
Wow, you worked with the ideas fast :o
Very nice, and beautiful (and more intelegent) concept/unit than the fanatic. :)
yeah ive seen this from ts firestorm, i really support this to replace fanatics.
Cool. I guess you mean Tarantula though.
I dont like it... I LOVE IT :D
Awesome.
But can you correct the part "Armament - Sucicide Bomb"? It annoys the hell out of me. xD
So when deployed, will this operate like a landmine? Or will it latch on like a limpet drone and need to be manually detonated? Love the idea and design btw can't wait for 1.5!
1.52 sorry missed the 2
One thing that is gona annoy me: Tarantule. The mod is in English, so that should be Tarantula.
Also, way to be Carnius. We started that topic like, what, a week ago?
Hm, Im glad you are taking the steps towards fixing Nod to a more TD/TS style, unlike the futuristic GLA which EA made them be.
I guess this mobile bomb will be really lethal not only against harvesters, but also against the majority of ground units.
Great way to make the Limpet Drone return updated. Will they replace regular Nod landmines too?
Hmmm, what if it gets a boost in explosion radius and damage when it is dug in? Would be nice to see a enemy force moving through a area, and then suddenly they are consumed in a mass of (possibly green) explosions.
Also wonder if like the suicide troops in the original it will get some form of Tiberium enhancement.
With these having the same damage as the initial 5 Fanatics together, will the blast radius be also somewhat bigger?
its tarantula
No offense, Carnius, but you seem to be taking a path which will eventually turn Nod into House Ordos or House Ix from Emperor: Battle for Dune (which is a great game, too, but somewhat different stylewise to CnC games).
It's your project, so you're free to do as you see fit, but, what is the point of turning Nod from a crazed religious cult with a core of elite and high tech units, to a generic high tech faction? I seldom used fanatics in CnC before getting TE, but I see them fitting entirely on the theme of what is the Brootherhood of Nod: people willing to give their lives for Kane's twisted ideal.
Anyway, just my opinion. You've done a great job and I will continue to use TE whichever choice you make.
He's returning Nod to what it was like in Tiberian Sun. Frankly, I personally think the fanatical, quasi-religious aspect of Nod was overplayed in C&C3. And it showed, considering how Nod was already losing the war before Act 2 was over.
I understand your concerns, but fanatics was rather funny guys in shirt. I never take them seriously.
But the sacrifice is still there, just considder cyborgs. Only crazed fanatic would willingly turn himself into war machine. I know not all do it willingly, but im sure there would be a lot that would really do it for Kane's twisted ideal.
You mean there are living, human brains inside those things?
I've always thought of it as Nod took in dead bodies and brought them to "life" through technology, like in Universal Soldier or Robocop. But I suppose no technician would refuse an offer if some fanatic came to them and said "I would serve Kane better if I talked in monotone." :D
I appreciate your answer, and I agree that, design-wise, Nod soldiers left a lot to desire (especially those ridiculous poncho-wearing rocket troopers) in TW and have been VERY improved in your mod.
It was not the fanatic as a specific unit, but rather the concept of Nod as a whole, what I was talking about (I wrote my "complain" after looking at this unit and the new turbine-powered Venom).
But, I guess you and the others are right. In TW, Nod is no longer the underground subversive terrorist group they were in TD. In TW they're one of the two remaining superpowers on Earth, they have plenty of resources and technology at their disposal. It makes more sense to turn your loyal followers into mindless killing machines, rather than a bunch of innefective suicide bombers.
Anyways, keep up the good work, you're making wonders both on design and gameplay departments!
Carnius can implement the religious factor adding some religious upgrades, like purifying flame or something about "disciples". The religious factor is indeed natural for the brotherhood.
And not just the cyborgs, the willingness to give their life for Kane exists with just about every Nod personnel, I believe. Why else would they join the Brotherhood if they didn't follow Kane's ideal? Unless they are traitorous XD
But yeah, I felt that the concept of the Fanatics had to go too. I agree that they looked terrible and couldn't be taken very seriously. Yes, Nod has been known to be terrorists, but I believe they'd be wiser and rather use people as militant soldiers (at least) and quickly build cheap drones (with the ease of technology) to do the suicide or scouting missions.
I remember this little useless tin can. Only practical use was on one NOD mission in firestorm. Other than that it was useless, not to mention removable when vehicle repaired.
But suicide attack might be the thing we need. Maybe adding something else on this will make it really good.
When it is burrowed, does it blow up on contact? Or does it attach and you manualy detonate it? Or is there a way so you can choose whether to make it blow up on contact or manualy detonate it? Does it attach to vehicles? No matter what it does, it is sure to be awesome. Keep up the good work!
It looks great!
Will it have the original beep-boop limpet sounds? If not, the fanatic quotes with a robotic effect will sound great for these! :)
I like this one more than ******* Limpet drone from Tiberian Sun =)
